4 Words
Four words encapsulates what a healthy relationship is between two individuals, groups, or nations that want to live peacefully with each other. There needs to being an ongoing process of communication. These four words are separated into two categories, however, they are mutually linked together. They are:

Trust: We need to trust that when we enter an agreement with another that they will abide by that agreement.

Responsibility: We need to be responsible for what we have agreed upon regarding the relationship that we have agreed to be in.

Negotiation: We have to acknowledge that that other is separate from us, and accept that they are not us. We also have to acknowledge that we cannot get our way all the time. That is why it is important to know who we are and what we are willing to tolerate.

Compromise: We need to understand that we cannot get our way all the time when connected to another. We need to pick and choose the battle that are important to us. There are things that we can tolerate, and that there are thing that are not as important to us.

This is why it is so important to continue to learn as to who we are as individuals, and how we engage ourselves with others in the society that we live in.
