Happy National Sunscreen Day ☀️
As summer is upon us, let’s talk about sun protection 😎
•Choose a BROAD SPECTRUM sunscreen. This means you’re protected from both UVA and UVB rays.
•Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30+
•Physical (mineral) sunscreens contain zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. These physical sunscreens block and scatter the UV rays before they pe*****te the skin, providing better protection.
•Check your labels! Water resistant is NOT waterproof. Some sunscreens are water resistant for only 40 minutes, others for 80, timing of reapplication is important.
•One ounce (size of a shot glass) is needed to cover to our bodies, about half a teaspoon for the face.
•Lastly, sunscreen alone cannot fully protect you. Remember to seek shade, wear sun-smart clothing, and sunglasses to help prevent skin cancer and sun damage. And be mindful of reflection near water, snow, and sand.
