Thanks to donor support, Hoag innovation is going global.

In June, Robert G. Louis, MD, FAANS, Empower360 Endowed Chair in Skull Base and Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, traveled to National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) as a visiting professor of Neurosurgery.

He presented Hoag’s groundbreaking work in AR/VR surgical planning and navigation, technologies developed and patented right here at Hoag through the Center for Advanced Visualization and Immersive Therapeutics, part of the Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute.

This opportunity to share Hoag’s expertise on an international stage was made possible by philanthropy, which funds endowed chairs like Dr. Louis’ and accelerates innovation that reaches beyond our borders.

After receiving life-saving treatment at Hoag nearly 50 years ago, Ginny Ueberroth helped launch Circle 1000 and laid the foundation for decades of philanthropic support, including the establishment of the Ginny Ueberroth Executive Medical Director Endowed Chair for the Women’s Health Institute.

Her daughter, Vicki Ueberroth Booth, and granddaughter, Sarah, are now continuing that legacy through the Ueberroth Family Foundation and active involvement with Hoag.

“Because of my parents, my mom especially, Hoag will always be in our DNA,” says Vicki. “When the world seems rough and you need inspiration, Hoag has a lot of it.”
