Meet Donald S Mowlds, MD
My initial interest in plastic surgery came during several trips to rural Guatemala with a team of compassionate, hard working surgeons and nurses. There I witnessed the life altering impact of plastic surgery on individuals, families and communities. I remained inspired throughout my extensive education and countless surgeries, always striving to perfect my craft.
I received my undergraduate degree from Brown University with Honors in Neuroscience. There, I was captain of the Men’s Golf team, a sport that remains a passion of mine to this day. I received my medical degree (MD) from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Paul Merage School of Business. I completed six years of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, undoubtedly the most comprehensive training program in the country.
Over the years, I have worked determinedly to remain at the forefront of the plastic surgery field. As an innovator, I co-invented an implantable product currently used in breast reconstruction around the world. In addition to publishing extensively in the areas of breast cancer and reconstructive surgery, body contouring and facial aesthetics, I have co-authored numerous book chapters with renowned colleagues and travelled the world to lecture and collaborate. Most importantly, I have forged many meaningful bonds with my patients that continue to influence me as a doctor and surgeon.
