Donald S. Mowlds, MD

Donald S. Mowlds, MD I look forward to meeting you in our beautiful office and discussing the result of your dreams.

My initial interest in plastic surgery came during several trips to rural Guatemala with a team of compassionate, hard-working surgeons and nurses. There I witnessed the life-altering impact of plastic surgery on individuals, families and communities. I remained inspired throughout my extensive education and countless surgeries, always striving to perfect my craft. I received my undergraduate degr

ee from Brown University with Honors in Neuroscience. There, I was captain of the Men’s Golf team, a sport that remains a passion of mine to this day. I received my medical degree (MD) from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Paul Merage School of Business. I completed six years of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, undoubtedly the most comprehensive training program in the country. Over the years, I have worked determinedly to remain at the forefront of the plastic surgery field. As an innovator, I co-invented an implantable product currently used in breast reconstruction around the world. In addition to publishing extensively in the areas of breast cancer and reconstructive surgery, body contouring and facial aesthetics, I have co-authored numerous book chapters with renowned colleagues and traveled the world to lecture and collaborate. Most importantly, I have forged many meaningful bonds with my patients that continue to influence me as a doctor and surgeon.

The idea behind breast preservation augmentation is exactly what it sounds like… respecting and preserving as much of the natural breast anatomy as possible during surgery. 🙌🏼

With preservé by Motiva, the goal is a more precise and atraumatic approach that works thoughtfully with the tissues rather than against them. 🙏🏼

Revision surgery is very different conversation than the conversations I have with first time surgery patients.

When I meet with revision breast patients for example, I spend a lot of time understanding what was done previously, what their natural baseline looked like before that surgery, and how their body and tissues have changed over time.

Scar tissue, implant position, skin quality, pregnancies, weight fluctuations, and even the natural aging process all play a role in how I approach a revision plan.

These surgeries require patience, strategy, and a very individualized approach because often the goal isn’t just to “fix” something…. it’s to restore balance, comfort, confidence, and a result that feels right for where the patient is now in life. 👌🏼

A little behind the scenes look at a breast augmentation using the Preservé technique by Motiva. 🙌🏼

This approach is designed to be more tissue respecting, focusing on preserving the natural structures of the breast while creating a beautiful, balanced result.

By working with the anatomy instead of against it, we can often support a smoother recovery and a more natural look and feel.

Every step is intentional… from pocket creation to implant placement - to ensure symmetry and long term outcomes for my patients. More to come on this technique! 👌🏼

It’s often the smallest, most intentional adjustments that create the biggest shift in how you look and feel! 🙌🏼

An upper bleph can refresh the eyes, while well placed tox and consistent, medical grade skincare refine and maintain the details. 👌🏼

⭐️ Before & After: Breast Revision ⭐️

This wonderful patient came in to see me with severe capsular contracture and breast asymmetry. Capsular contracture is a common occurrence in patients with breast implants. The scar tissue that forms around an implant is a natural phenomenon and occurs around every implant in the body. It serves as the body’s natural response to separate you from the foreign body, which in this case is a breast implant. However, for reasons largely unknown, this scar tissue can begin to contract and squeeze the implant, causing progressive asymmetry and discomfort. While this condition is not dangerous, it can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life. The treatment for capsular contracture involves surgery to remove the abnormal scar tissue and, if desired, replace the breast implants. As you can see, this can be highly successful, allowing the patient to regain a pain-free aesthetically balanced appearance. 👏🏼

I regularly use mesh in my breast surgeries for patients who are great candidates because it gives an extra layer of internal support. 🙌🏼

Think of it like a soft internal bra that helps maintain shape, projection, and longevity of your results. Mesh can also reduce tension on the tissue, which helps with healing and minimizes stretching over time. It’s especially useful for implant revisions or patients with thinner tissue who need a little extra reinforcement.

Overall, it’s one of my favorite tools for creating beautiful, long-lasting outcomes that age gracefully. 👌🏽

Fat grafting to the face is a really nice option if you’re looking to restore volume in a natural way.

I take a small amount of your own fat (usually from the abdomen or thighs), process it, and then carefully place it into areas like the cheeks, temples, or under eyes. 👌🏼

Because it’s your own tissue, it tends to blend really well and gives a soft, natural look. It also has some regenerative benefits, so it can help improve skin quality in addition to adding volume.

Overall, it’s a great option for patients who want subtle, long lasting rejuvenation using their own tissue. 🙌🏼

Short answer - quite a few! 👏🏼🙌🏼

Take a listen to some of the things that we can correct in surgery after pregnancy. Hope this helps!

An endoscopic brow lift is one of my favorite procedures for patients who feel like their upper face looks heavy or tired.

Using tiny incisions hidden in the hairline and a camera for precision, i’m able to gently elevate the brow and soften forehead lines without the need for a long incision. 👌🏽

The result is a brighter, more open eye area that still looks completely natural - not surprised or overdone. It can also improve hooding over the upper eyelids, which many patients don’t realize is actually coming from brow descent rather than just excess eyelid skin.

For the right candidate, this procedure can make a big impact while still being very subtle to others… people just think you look more refreshed and well rested. 👏🏼
