Today’s kids face more opportunities for addiction than any generation before them.
Not just from substances, but also from devices, short-form content, gaming, and online gambling. As parents, it’s important to stay aware, stay curious, and have open conversations about the risks.
Early awareness and support can make all the difference!

One-word answers from kids are often a sign of overwhelm, not disrespect. After a full day of stimulation, many kids need time to decompress before they can connect. 🧘

Instead of asking questions the moment they walk in, give them space first. Later, try simple check-ins like a high point, low point, or even a thumbs up/thumbs down. Less pressure often leads to more honesty. 👍

Real connection happens through presence, shared meals, quiet moments, and time without phones. Sometimes silence creates the conversations we’ve been hoping for. 💙

We’ll be diving into more this week on Raising Families!

➡️ Snap Maps can quietly fuel anxiety, comparison, and FOMO in kids and teens. Constantly checking where everyone is, who they’re with, and what they’re doing often leaves them feeling worse.

One of the most important lessons we can teach our kids is that they have a choice. They don’t have to constantly look, compare, or seek validation from what everyone else is doing.

Helping kids care less about outside opinions and more about building their own path is how we raise confident, resilient trailblazers. Go to the link in my bio for more parenting tips and tools!

One of the most effective tools for managing stress, anxiety, and depression is simpler than you think: daily exercise.

Just 30 minutes a day, at least five days a week- can create powerful chemical changes in the brain that support better mental health. 🧠💪

Consistent movement isn’t just a habit. It’s modern-day medicine.

Anxiety often comes from living in the future- imagining outcomes that haven’t happened.

The opportunity is to return to the present. 🧘

Ground yourself in what you can see, hear, and feel.

You’re not defined by anxious thoughts, they’re just one part of your mind.

Notice them. Interrupt them. Replace them. 🧠💪💭

Each time you do, you build steadiness and take back control.

This week on the Raising Families podcast with Dr. Jerry, we’re discussing the importance of perspective, and how the lenses through which we view the world can shape our thoughts, feelings, and overall wellbeing.

Where your mind goes in time has a powerful impact on how you feel. 💭

When your thoughts stay in the past, it’s easy to get stuck replaying moments or holding on to things that fuel anger and sadness. When your mind jumps ahead to the future, it often fills in the blanks with stress and anxiety.

It’s something we all deal with, and our kids feel it too.

The present moment is the one place where things are actually manageable. Learning to stay there can change everything.

This week on Raising Families, we’re breaking down how to come back to the present and why it matters more than you think. 💪💙🎙️
