Forward Head Posture & Brain Blood Flow: A Hidden Risk You Shouldn’t Ignore

The image above highlights the impact of forward head posture (FHP) on cervical spine curvature and blood circulation to the brain. This condition, often caused by poor ergonomics, prolonged screen use, or bad posture habits, can lead to:

✅ Decreased blood flow to the brain
✅ Cervical disc degeneration
✅ Nerve compression
✅ Headaches, dizziness, and even cervical vertigo

🔍 As shown in the spinal X-rays, a healthy lordotic cervical curve gradually becomes a straight military neck, then a kyphotic curve, and eventually severe degenerative “S” curve — leading to long-term complications.

💡 Physiotherapy Tips to Correct Forward Head Posture:

1. Chin Tucks: Strengthen deep neck flexors and realign head over shoulders.
2. Scapular Retractions: Improve upper back posture and reduce shoulder slouching.
3. Wall Posture Alignment: Stand with your head, back, and hips against the wall to feel proper alignment.
4. Ergonomic Adjustments: Raise screen level to eye height and avoid long forward neck flexion.
5. Stretch Tight Muscles: Especially the pectoralis major/minor and upper trapezius.
6. Neck Mobility Exercises: Gentle range-of-motion movements to restore cervical mobility

Many people mistakenly believe that bloating during or after a lymphatic drainage massage means something is wrong and that the treatment isn’t working. In reality, bloating can be a sign that your body is responding positively, especially if you are new to lymphatic treatments and are beginning to heal your gut.
Just because you don’t see immediate results after your first session, it doesn’t mean the treatment isn’t beneficial. In fact, it may indicate that your body is undergoing a significant detoxification and may require two to three sessions to eliminate old, stubborn toxins that have been weighing you down for some time. If clients experience bloating the day after or within a few days of a treatment, it is often a sign that their body is actively processing these changes.
During a cleanse, your liver expels toxins, your bile ducts open, and potential parasites may be dying off, all of which contribute to changes in your microbiome.
Your bloating may indicate that:
- Emotional releases are occurring (the gut holds onto a lot of emotions)
- Your bile flow is improving
- Your liver is effectively processing deeper toxins
- Parasites or pathogens are being eliminated
- Your nervous system is recalibrating
Remember that healing is not always a straightforward process.
Bloating can be a normal part of feeling worse before feeling better, and it is a natural aspect of your healing journey.
