Most coaching engagements have a beginning and ending, but the relationships can be forever. A former coaching client Maribel Reyes a Board Member for the OC Justice Fund reached out and asked if I could help the board with their annual planning retreat. I jumped at the chance.

The Orange County Justice Fund (OCJF) is dedicated to empowering transformative change in the immigration system so the most vulnerable immigrants and refugees in Orange County, impacted by detention and deportation, are afforded effective legal representation, due process rights, and services for community re-integration. The staff and volunteers for inspire me and I am honored to support their vision for an Orange County that honors immigrants and refugees with dignity, justice, and equitable treatment to empower their freedom, safety, and well-being as members of our community🥰

Standing beneath the Louvre’s inverted pyramid, a structure that flips convention and invites us to look deeper, I’m reminded of the leadership model that’s shaped both my business and my life.

In traditional hierarchies, power sits at the top. But in servant leadership, the pyramid is inverted. The leader’s role is to support, elevate, and empower those they serve. It’s not about being the center of control, it’s about being the foundation of growth. This philosophy is the cornerstone of J9 Leading Solutions. Whether I’m coaching executives or facilitating change conversations, I lead from the bottom up, creating space for others to rise.

If you’re reflecting on your own leadership, ask yourself:
🔍 Am I creating clarity and safety for those I lead, or just expecting performance?
🔍 Do I listen to understand, or to respond?
🔍 How often do I ask, “What do you need from me to thrive?”

Leaders getting better together💪🏼 I was in my zone facilitating a day focused on self-care as a tool to be primed and ready to navigate organizational change. Leaders worked to reclaim their power and agency. Agency is the capacity to take actions of your choosing and through those actions shape your future. It means – I can act. I can change things. Agency is built through self-coaching and begins with asking questions. This leads to making choices, taking initiative and achieving desired outcomes!

A high agency person is curious, challenges the status quo, believes that the world around them is changeable, has vision, drive with a dash of defiance in their personality. What question can you ask yourself to help reclaim your agency? Share it with us in the comments👇🏼😊
