One things that surprises our patients is that your GI tract produces quite a bit of gas! While this is normal, there can be gases that move into an abnormal range.

A big sign things are not as they should be is a very smelly gas. Just like your nose wouldn’t want to be trapped in a room with this gas, your microbes and gut lining do not want this excess gas as well.

This gas can cause inflammation and irritation leading to a vicious cycle of more gas and more GI symptoms!

Nutrition can go deep but your emotions can go places you have been avoiding for a very long time.

Emotional wounds can be a lot like physical wounds. If you get injured and it was never handled properly, it will cause you issues for the rest of your life. It can seem like a nightmare to have to reopen the wound or reset on old broken bone, but in the long term that can be key to your feeling so much better.

Properly processing past trauma can be the very difficult side of long-term healing.

Here is the best tip on finding the very best provider!

Find someone who has a level of humility, empathy, care and love. That usually comes from a provider who has been through something similar to what you are facing or knows someone close to them who has.

Either way, one of the most important aspects of your care team is that they actually care.

Seasonally fresh produce is picked when it’s fully developed at the peak of the season. Because they’re often locally grown, they don’t have to travel for long distances and are fresher, and are often more nutrient-dense.

Not only is seasonal produce more sustainable, it often tastes fresher than food that is consumed out of season!

Shopping with your local farmers at a farmer's market ensures that you are getting the freshest seasonal produce as it's often picked within a few days of you purchasing it. 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾🧑‍🌾

Interesting! 😳

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first psychobiotic designed to treat anxiety by addressing the gut-brain connection. This groundbreaking treatment leverages the power of probiotics to restore balance in the gut microbiome, which plays a significant role in regulating mood and mental health.

Psychobiotics are a class of probiotics that target the gut-brain axis, a pathway that links the digestive system to the brain. Research has shown that an imbalanced gut microbiome can contribute to mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. By restoring healthy gut bacteria, this psychobiotic aims to reduce anxiety symptoms, offering a novel, non-pharmacological approach to managing mental health.

Clinical trials have demonstrated that the psychobiotic significantly reduced anxiety levels in participants, with effects similar to traditional anti-anxiety medications but with fewer side effects. Experts believe that this approval marks a new era in mental health treatment, where the focus shifts toward restoring balance in the body’s internal systems to improve psychological well-being.

While psychobiotics hold great promise, experts caution that more research is needed to understand their full potential and long-term effects. Nevertheless, this approval opens the door to alternative treatments that could help millions manage anxiety in a safer, more natural way.

Ok, a lot of our patients eat animals and a lot of our patients do not eat animals!

Based on the Evidence:
We believe more people should be eating plants!
We believe many can have a properly planned plant-based diet.
We believe a Mediterranean style diet is also extremely conducive to great health.

We also believe and see that both ends of the spectrum (Carnivore to Vegan)can be on extremely detrimental diets that end up wrecking your gut microbiome, neurotransmitters, and hormones.

Why can some people get away with extreme diets and others can’t???

It can be an extremely processed diet like fast food, chips, cookies etc or an extreme whole food diet like red meat only or even fruit only!!

We have found that you can have “gut debt” or a “gut trust fund”. This enables some of you to struggle from the very beginning with your gut health and some of you can go years or a lifetime without realizing what you are doing isn’t optimal.

Happy SIBO Awareness Day! Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a form of microbe imbalance in the gut called dysbiosis and can be a potential cause of IBS. This causes unwanted gas production and bloating.

It can be confusing when trying to narrow down the root causes to your IBS symptoms! SIBO could be the reason why your gut is unhappy 🤕
