Most people think Type 1 Diabetes only happens in childhood, but that’s not true. Adults can develop it too, and it’s often missed or misdiagnosed as Type 2.

The key? A simple blood test called GAD-65.
This test detects antibodies attacking your insulin-producing cells, clear signs of autoimmunity. When it’s positive, it means your immune system is targeting your pancreas, leading to Type 1 Diabetes (or LADA, Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults).

Here’s something interesting… I’ve long suspected Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) as a major trigger for autoimmunity. I tested positive for EBV and research shows it can play a role in autoimmune diseases.

Autoimmune disease isn’t random. It’s often the result of genetic predisposition + environmental triggers + infections like EBV.

Why am I sharing this? Because if you’ve been struggling with blood sugar swings, fatigue, or unexplained symptoms and told, “Everything looks normal,” please advocate for deeper testing. Ask for antibody tests like GAD-65 and thyroid panels that go beyond TSH.
