One of the most popular health conditions we treat is back pain. Upper back, mid back, low back, even sciatica. Back pain may feel sharp, stabbing, achy, shooting/electric, or dull.

Acupuncture, cupping, and gua sha work wonders to open circulation and relieve pain, strengthen weakness, and relax tension.

Low back pain flares more often during the winter time, due to its close relation to the kidneys and the Water Element.

Simple ways to prevent low back pain:
⛄️ keep a flat back when bending forward and bend from your hips
⛄️ use your knees to get lower and squat if possible (helps support the back)
⛄️ stick your rear back slightly with sitting and slightly arch your low back (can use pillow support)
⛄️ after sitting, stretch the front of the hip (moving your body in the opposite position) by going into a lunge

In a world where surgeries, neurotoxins, and fillers are regularly used to change how we look - this needs to be said: We’ve all been blessed with our own look, our own lips, our own cheeks, our own nose, our own eyes, our own smile, our own breasts.

Why try to fit into a cube when you have your unique beautiful one of a kind face and body (unless you are an identical twin) in front of you?

Reassure those inner feelings, make yourself feel safe and secure in this world that often tells you otherwise. The snow goose need not bathe to make itself white. You are already divine 🩵

Tai Ji Flow’s second Stress Management workshop with Jacaranda Rising was at a popular coffee shop in Los Angeles. Participants were able to enjoy tea or coffee while learning techniques to help manage their stress. We are again grateful for this opportunity to give and loved working with everyone!

Jacaranda Rising helps foster youth transition into the adult world, providing them with tools they need to live and thrive 💜

One stress management tip: Pay attention to what you eat.
We often crave sweets when stressed, which can lead to eating processed sugar or high amounts of sugary foods 🍰🍡🍪

In Chinese medicine the liver helps proper circulation and nourishment. This circulation flow is disrupted when you are stressed, creating tension. Eating sugar burdens the liver more as it will have to work even harder to detoxify.

What helps the liver deal with stress? Cooked dark leafy greens. They nourish and cleanse, helping the liver, and helping you to function in stressful times.

It’s weird to think about right - needles at the hand and wrist should help the hand and wrist! And they do, but that’s only 1 part of what they can do.

Acupuncture points are on connected systems throughout the body. A single point stimulated at one part will have a certain effect on the whole system.

For example, an acupuncture point on the lung channel at the elbow will help the lung organ, while the point at the thumb will help the throat. All connected to the lung system. Pretty cool right?

As one of the most popular fall spices, we find cinnamon everywhere currently. Baked in pies and crisps, mixed in apple cider and other hot beverages, added to breads, muffins, oatmeal, pancakes, and of course snickerdoodle cookies and cinnamon buns treats.

Cinnamon is warming for autumns cooler days, and brings a delicious sweet spice flavor.

What else is this spice doing for us besides being tasty cozy?
Cinnamon is a diaphoretic, causing us to sweat. This sweating releases cold pathogens, perfect for the temperature drops this time of year.
Along with warming, cinnamon is invigorating helping to improve circulation, especially in the chest.

When is cinnamon helpful?
* This time of year of course!
* When you feel chilled in general
* Coming down with a sickness experiencing runny nose or chest congestion
* When the back of your neck is achy after being outside

Adding cinnamon is a delicious way to keep your immune system healthy. Moderation is key (no need to have it on the daily). Add a little to your recipe and enjoy being cozy, and healthy!
