Meet our January DAISY Award recipient, Riley Krain, BSN, RN. The DAISY Award recognizes the exceptional, skillful and compassionate care our nurses provide to patients and families every day.

Riley was nominated for her extraordinary compassion during a difficult moment in our Emergency Department. After a patient arrived with life-threatening injuries, the family shared one final request rooted in their Catholic faith — that their loved one receive Last Rites before care was withdrawn.

In the middle of the night, Riley began calling local churches and parishes, determined to honor their wishes. Despite multiple unanswered calls and declined requests, she continued advocating on behalf of the patient and family. At approximately 2:30 a.m., a local priest arrived at the bedside to administer Last Rites, bringing comfort and peace to the family during an incredibly emotional time.

Riley’s advocacy and empathy went far beyond clinical care. We are proud to recognize her for honoring a family’s faith and ensuring their loved one’s wishes were respected.

Creating calmer, more supportive spaces for every patient. 💚

Riverside Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department now has a new sensory cart to help patients with autism feel more comfortable during their visit.

Thanks to our community partners at Hampton Fire Rescue, this cart—and sensory tools for EMS units—were made possible through their incredible fundraising efforts.

WTKR recently featured this story, highlighting how our care teams are already seeing the difference it makes. “It’s worked well,” one nurse shared. “The bubble lights are a big hit!”

Together, we’re building a more inclusive healthcare experience for all. 🌟

🎉 It’s official—the expanded 3West Medical-Surgical Unit is open at Riverside Regional Medical Center!

This investment expands our capacity from 18 to 22 beds, bringing more space, improved design, and a smoother workflow for our care teams. The new unit will serve patients with complex medical needs, chronic illnesses, and post-surgical recovery—delivering care in a space built for healing and comfort.
