In celebration of Long-Term Care Administrator’s Week, we are on Mackenzie Mason, Administrator, for her outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to resident-centered care.
Mackenzie has been Administrator at Newport and The Huntington since January, but her journey with VHS began in 2023 at Marcella as a Resident Navigator (Admissions Assistant). She completed her AIT there in 2024, passed her boards, and received her license in March. From there, she became Assistant Administrator at York and Hamilton, before moving to Newport to serve as Administrator.
Her passion for working with older adults began in high school, while serving at a local restaurant, Steve’s Steakhouse, frequently visited by seniors. In college at JMU, she explored several paths—PA, social work, and other roles related to aging—before discovering Healthcare Administration. She went on to complete an internship with VHS senior living communities (Hamilton, Huntington, Arbors) and graduated with a degree in Health Services Administration.
“It was a perfect fit for me and I have been here ever since! I love getting to know the residents and ensuring that they feel loved and cared for. I want to make a difference in their lives and be someone in their corner.”
