Yesterday American Pharmacies EVP & GC, Miguel Rodriguez, testified before the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee. The Committee was holding a hearing to combat fraud, waste and abuse in the Medicaid program. He raised the specter of PBM self-dealing in the program between PBMs and the pharmacies they own. He called to ban such practices or “at the very least, the onus should be on such a vendor to disclose all facts surrounding a transaction with its affiliates and demonstrate that any such transactions are fair to the state by showing that the amount one Medicaid vendor pays its affiliates is no more than it pays nonaffiliates for the same products and services.”
