We got dolled up for our tea party this morning! We made hats the previous day and were entertained by students from the Creative Art Dance Studio. There was music for dancing, and of course, no tea party is complete without a beautiful array of treats including macarons and cakes to accompany the warm tea!

We've got game(s)! Our sports party this afternoon had us challenging one another in football, basketball and softball. We were visited by one resident's sporty grandchildren. And we enjoyed an array of our tailgating favorites, including fried chicken wings, egg rolls, cocktail meatballs and sausages, chips, dips, sliders, veggies and fruit. We are proud to share our on-site Dialysis Den is open! It is operated in partnership with DaVita Kidney Care.

Our Dialysis Den allows our long-term and skilled rehabilitation residents to receive treatment in-house instead of needing transportation to an off-site facility. It leaves our residents more time to participate in dining, activities and events.

Our team members are responsible for getting residents ready and taking them to and from the on-site treatment center. DaVita’s highly trained and dedicated care team members deliver on-site care, creating a more comfortable and convenient experience for our residents and their providers.

The Den opening is the latest in several renovations to our building. We refurbished our skilled rehabilitation Mitchell unit last year, along with upgrading our main entrance, lobby, dining room and other areas. We appreciate the community support and are glad to now be able to provide this additional in-house dialysis service to Newport News.

We are the second VHS nursing and rehabilitation center to open a Den with DaVita. Coliseum opened a Den in 2023.

We opened a lemonade stand - and what goes better with lemonade than freshly baked cookies? Our residents had fun fixing their drinks with fresh fruit garnishes and took turns as cashier. We also delivered to residents and team members who couldn't get to the dining room while we were open for business.
