Christiane McFarland, who is an occupational therapist and PRN for VHS Home Health Care, sees clients Southside, which keeps her close to home. She conducts patient evaluations, reevaluations and discharges, and oversees COTAs who carry out her treatment plans.

"I truly feel that you can make a significant impact when you’re evaluating and treating patients in the very place where they live, sleep, cook and make memories. There’s something special about helping people regain independence in their own space," she says.

Why join our team? LaQuirsta White, who is a full-time physical therapist with VHS Home Health Care, says being in control of her schedule and having time to work with patients are key.

LaQuirsta’s coverage area includes the Peninsula, Isle of Wight County and Suffolk. She works out the week’s schedule by clustering clients within a 5-mile radius on a given day.

“I like that I control my schedule and that I am one-on-one with the patient. Some don’t need as much time for PT, and some need an hour. I can build into my schedule the time the patient needs,” she says.

Her focus is on patient assessments and working with PTAs on carrying out the care plans. LaQuirsta says she has the time to “really determine what a person needs and cater to them.”

The former athletic trainer says she was exposed to the benefits of home care when her brothers were born prematurely and needed in-home help.
“I have a love to help people,” she says.

Our Recruiting Roadshow is coming to a community near you this month, making stops at all seven of our nursing and rehabilitation centers in Newport News, Hampton, York, Gloucester and Kilmarnock.

Recruiting team members Colleen Reynolds and Renée Turner will offer on-the-spot interviews and the events allow interested candidates to see our facilities and meet our team. Our team includes CNAs, RNs, LPNs, dietary aides, cooks, housekeepers, maintenance techs, therapists, administrative positions and more.

Recruiting Roadshow is held quarterly. You also can speak to our recruiters about roles with our clinical and rehabilitation therapy teams at VHS Home Health Care, VHS Hospice and VHS Rehabilitation.
