💪🏽💪🏽 Fight Breast Cancer with Good Nutrition:
When my mother (Geraldine Ray/AKA- "Geri") found out that she had breast cancer, I remember that one of her weapons was "Good Nutrition"; little did I know that this would inspire me to become a Registered Dietitian.
I remember the addition of a new way of eating, cooking, grocery shopping and the elimination of eating out; try not taking your 12 y.o. to a fast food restaurant for 6 months! My family began to read food labels on everything; it was surprising!
Geri's 7 Nutrition Tips for Breast Cancer:
1. No Hotdogs, bologna or processed meats.
2. No frying...bake, grill and roast meats.
3. No fast food restaurants; sit down is okay with healthy choices.
4. Limit Added Sugars; cake, cookies, pies and fruit juices (35gm or less/day for women).
5. Increase your vegetable intake: broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and leafy vegetables.
6. Add garlic, more herbs and spices and less salt to your food.
7. Take a multivitamin that includes a good amount of vitamin D and C.
