The theme for this National Assisted Living Week is “Ageless Adventure.” Our work regularly gives us a front row seat to the way these communities empower residents to stay active, engaged, and supported. If you have a family member or loved one in assisted living, we encourage you to spend time with them discovering the things that have brought meaning to their lives.

Gentiva Hospice Newport News is honored to recognize our stellar employees and volunteers. Each week, we will feature one of our dedicated team members to exemplify the work they do with love and care daily. We want them to shine for the world like they shine to us.

This week's featured employee is Janice Wiggins. Janice is the chaplain not only for the Newport News branch but also for our Williamsburg branch. She has been with Gentiva since August 2024.

Janice chose to join hospice because she wanted to walk alongside people and just be their friend when they are at the end of their life, and they realize that they may have regrets that they want to discuss. She makes it a judgment-free zone and is just an ear to listen to them in the time they may need someone the most.

She enjoys working for Gentiva Newport News because it feels like she can be a great friend/leader/mom/big sister to the group that we have in this office.

Janice enjoys the outdoors and activities like fishing, but most of all, she enjoys making people happy and being able to meet people where they are in their own setting.

She's most proud of being able to get to know the staff and being the person that will listen and be accepting when it feels like no one else will.

Janice wants all of her patients to know the following: "You are loved! You are special! You are unique!"

She hopes people remember her for the positive impact she made on their lives.

Thank you, Janice, for your dedication to the team and the love you show to everyone! We appreciate you so much, and we hope you know about it!

Gentiva Hospice Newport News is honored to recognize our stellar employees and volunteers. Each week, we will feature one of our dedicated team members to exemplify the work they do with love and care daily. We want them to shine for the world like they shine for us.

This week's spotlight employee is Christina Moulliet. She is the PCM (patient care manager) for the branch. She has been with Gentiva since October 2023, when she was a PRN solely caring for patients in the field.

Working in hospice gives her the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, to provide not only the patient, but also their family, with comfort and care while they go through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

While she was working PRN, she got to know the staff at Gentiva Newport News, and everyone brings something to the table when caring for the patients. They are all truly wonderful people.

Things in life that make her happy are her family (including her dog, Max), her job, traveling, and checking items off of her bucket list.

Knowing she can positively make an impact and provide comfort during their final days is something she is genuinely proud of in her job.

She would like her patients to "live every day like it was their last" if she could give them just one piece of advice.

She wants to be remembered favorably, and that she gave her patients and families support, and that their loved one passed away in peace thanks to her.

Thank you, Christina, for all you do for our team and the patients and families that are under your care. We truly appreciate you!

Sunday, March 23, 2025, was National Puppy Day, and we celebrated with the staff and residents at Regency Health and Rehab in Yorktown, VA, in conjunction with Marcella Williams from Altmeyer Funeral Home and her cute little guy, Ziggy. Ziggy brought smiles to everyone's faces as he made his way through the halls around the building. A great time was had by all and the cupcakes were delicious!

Thank you, Marcella, Ziggy, and the entire team at Regency! We look forward to many more visits with you in the future!

Gentiva Hospice Newport News is honored to recognize our stellar employees and volunteers. Each week, we will feature one of our dedicated team members to exemplify the work they do with love and care daily. We want them to shine for the world as they shine for us.

This week, we are recognizing another of our RN Hospice Nurse Case Managers, Tiquita Williams. She has worked in the healthcare field since 1999 when she began as a CNA. She joined Gentiva in July of 2024 after she heard how beautiful it was to share the hospice journey with patients.

She loves working for Genitva, especially because everyone works as a team and treats each other with love and kindness. No question is too big or too small for the team to answer, and people aren't afraid to lend a helping hand when needed.

The things in life that bring her joy are being a mother to her 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy) and a grandma to her 6 grandbabies.

She is most proud of being able to open up more to others since working at Gentiva because it has helped her grow into a person of love. She is also really proud of the rapport she has with her patients and their families. They know they can rely on her.

She would love for her patients to know that she is really impressed by their accomplishments in life. It makes her feel more positive, and she now strives to achieve those same goals in her own life.

She wants people to remember her for being a person of her word and as someone who goes above and beyond for her patients and is a true advocate for them and their families.

Thank you, Tiquita, for being there for your patients, their families, and our team. We at Gentiva see you and appreciate you!

Gentiva Hospice Newport News is honored to recognize our stellar employees and volunteers. Each week, we will feature one of our dedicated team members on social media to exemplify the work they do with love and care daily. We want them to shine for the world as they shine for us.

Our first employee is RN Case Manager Linsey Newton. She has been with the company for 6 months but has been a nurse for 4 years. Prior to coming to Gentiva, she was an ICU nurse, and she saw a lot of death and suffering. Being a hospice nurse provides her the opportunity to be a comfort to the patients and families in the most vulnerable time of their lives. Linsey gets to be their guide and resource while they are dealing with what is undoubtedly one of the hardest times of life: sickness and dying. She likes to ensure that they have what they need to ease any discomfort and make their moments with their loved ones special.

Linsey absolutely loves her job at Gentiva Hospice Newport News because the leadership and the entire team support one another, and it is apparent in all of our interactions. She felt welcomed to the team as soon as she came on board, and it feels like one big family where you can really be yourself, and people will love and appreciate you.

Things that make her happy when she's not working are spending time with her family, going to the beach, reading, crocheting, and watching TV to relieve the chaos of the world.

The thing she is most proud of while working for Gentiva is the connections she makes with her patients and their families. It's a deep commitment needed toward their level of care and what they need on a day-to-day basis, both physically and emotionally from her.

One piece of advice she gives her patients is: "You are not alone! We are a family here to support you."

The legacy she would like to leave for her team and patients is that when they think of her, they can say that each and every patient is treated like part of the family, and the love and care shine through each day!

Thank you, Linsey, for your time and for the love you show to everyone you meet! You are appreciated!
