At AuhVee Behavioral Health not only do we celebrate professional growth. We also acknowledge our staff's personal achievement and accolades.

Yesterday, AuhVee staff and members witnessed the elevation of staff, Mr. Kris, to Deacon at his church.

Mr. Kris has been a tremendous asset to AuhVee showing compassion, dedication and support to the individuals we serve. It was an honor celebrating and sharing this special moment with him.

Congratulations again Mr. Kris. Your AuhVee family is proud of you!

💛 Honoring Thomas Wiggins, also known as “Blind Tom” — a 19th-century musical prodigy whose talent amazed the nation. 💛

Born into slavery in Georgia, Thomas was blind from birth and may have been autistic. Despite the barriers placed before him, his gift for music was undeniable. Performing publicly by the age of six, he became known for his extraordinary piano skills and his ability to recreate the sounds of birds, trains, and even battles within his compositions. At just 11 years old, he performed at the White House for James Buchanan.

Though widely celebrated, his life was also marked by exploitation, as others controlled his career and earnings. Even so, his brilliance could not be dimmed. He became one of the most sought-after musicians of his time, with notable writers like Mark Twain and John Steinbeck attending and writing about his performances.

Thomas Wiggins’ story is one of extraordinary talent, resilience, and complexity. This month, we honor his legacy and the lasting impact of his contributions to American music.
