Peninsula Women's Care Healthcare for women is unique, especially obstetric and gynecologic care. We accept most insurance plans.

Peninsula Women’s Care is a dedicated and compassionate medical practice formed in 2000 that consists of two physicians and two nurse practitioners serving the Hampton Roads area. Comfort, compassion and understanding are essential along with the highest levels of medical knowledge, skill and experience. We’ve counseled women on family planning and infertility, cherished them through pregnancy and

delivered thousands of beautiful babies. Women come to us for routine preventative visits as well as diagnosis and treatment for gynecological issues. If you have billing or insurance questions, our experienced staff can help.

Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler 🥼

🥇Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler became the first African American woman in the U.S. to earn a medical degree in 1864.
📖 After practicing, she used her journal notes to publish “A Book of Medical Discourses,” which aimed to educate women and caregivers on infant and women’s health.

🏠 She dedicated her work to caring for women, children, and underserved communities after the Civil War, right here in our hometown of Richmond, VA!

Her legacy helped pave the way for diversity in medicine. 💜

Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell 🥼

🥇Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman in the United States to receive a medical degree. She was admitted to Geneva Medical College in New York-only as a joke.

She later helped establish the New York Infirmary for Indigent Women and Children-known today as NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. 🏥 This was also the first hospital in the U.S. to be staffed entirely by women!

Her determination helped open the door for generations of women in medicine. 💜
