Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, but there are others like Lewy body dementia and vascular dementia.

Dementia affects:
🔘Memory
🔘Judgment
🔘Communication
🔘Mood and behavior
🔘Ability to complete daily tasks

⚡️Remember: They are not giving you a hard time--they are having a hard time.

👉Keep consistent daily routine
👉Speak slowly and use simple sentences
👉Avoid arguing--redirect gently
👉Watch for triggers like hunger, pain, or fatigue
👉Make safety a priority at home

Dementia care is about preserving dignity, creating calm, and finding small moments of joy. 💙 Caregiver burnout is real. FCR is here to help.

This National Cancer Prevention Month, we pause to remember and honor the loved ones we've lost to cancer - the parents, grandparents, friends, and family members whose strength and love continue to live on in our hearts.

Cancer touches so many families, and for those who have walked this journey alongside someone they love, the impact is lifelong. Every day we remember their courage, their stories, and the moments that made them special.

We also stand with survivors, caregivers, and families who continue the fight every day. Early detection, prevention, and compassionate care can make a powerful difference.

At FCR, we are honored to support families through life's most challenging moments--providing comfort, dignity, and care where it matters most. 🫶

Everyone needs a little respite--even from the cold. We hope you're enjoying the bright sun and warmer day! A break in the chill can lift our spirits, give us a chance to step outside, and remind us that warmer days are ahead.

At Family Centered Resources, we believe caregivers and families need respite too. Taking time to rest and recharge isn't a luxury--it's essential to staying healthy and providing the best care possible.

If you or a loved one could use extra support at home, we're here to help!

Sometimes nature hides in plain sight. 👀🐊 This alligator blends perfectly into the waters of Kiawah Island--a reminder that wildlife is always closer than we think. The beauty of the Lowcountry comes with a wild side, so it's always best to stay aware of your surroundings while enjoying the scenery. You never know what might be lurking just beneath the surface.

Nature is beautiful - and best enjoyed with awareness and respect!

Happy Friday from your friends at FCR!

“Assisted Living at Home”

There’s no place like home, especially when you’re not feeling well. Our home care nurses and staff help you live safely at home with expert and responsive care.

Family Centered Resources, Inc., (FCR) was established in April 1994, after working with families in different settings in our community, and finding that clients and families need more than just skilled care at home. Personal care assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and assistance with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and transportation for appointments and errands, often allows clients to remain living at home for many years, and remaining at home is the first choice for most individuals. My parents' home care needs and my family's struggle to find reliable, qualified help, led to the establishment of this agency in 1994. FCR has become a successful and reputable provider of home care because our goal is to provide the type of care that we would expect for our own loved ones. Our agency accepts private pay and Medicaid payments for our services, as well as Long Term Care Insurance. FCR is a family-owned business, not a national franchise, and we are proud to provide these services in the community where our family has lived and worked for over 70 years and where we plan to continue to provide services for many generations to come.
