Barb Singleton
Barb Singleton, 71, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at her home in Southgate, KY, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Barb was born on May 30, 1954, in Covington, KY, to the late George and Aretta Huesman. Barb attended Notre Dame High School for Girls in Covington, KY, and graduated in 1972. She went on to achieve her Kentucky Cosmetology License, completing a rigorous 1,800-hour program and passing both a written and practical examination administered by the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology (KBC). Her dedication and talent earned her First Place (Regional) and Second Place (National) awards in hair competitions. Barb had a passion for cosmetology and worked at multiple hair salons, including Serenity Hair Design, for over 30 years, where she brought joy and beauty to her clients. She married Tim Wi**er of Covington, KY, in December 2005, and together they shared a life filled with love and cherished memories, including their beloved dog, Sophie. In her spare time, Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and traveling with friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her loving brother, David Huesman, and her sister, Janice Brady. Barb is survived by her devoted husband, Tim Wi**er; her daughter, Kelly (Chuck) Gibson of Ludlow, KY; and her son, Michael (Matpiya) Singleton (Retired Army) of Hawai’i. She also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, Bailey Gibson and Carson Singleton. A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held at a later date (TBD). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Brighton Center, INC., located at 741 Central Ave, Newport, KY 41071. Barb will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Michelle “Lee” Thomas
Michelle “Lee” Thomas passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Kentucky, after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Lee was born on October 20, 1969. She was a loving, easygoing, and generous person. Lee was also an amazing cook. Her backyard may have been her favorite place to be as she loved nature and her privacy. Never on time for anything, but that was Lee! She loved life, privacy, and her family. Preceded in death by her father, Carl Thomas (Manton), paternal grandparents James and Annie Downs Thomas (Manton), Joseph Hugh and Lorene Greenwell Bartley (Bardstown). Survived by the love of her life; Frankie Carey (Erlanger, KY); her children Gerrit Thomas (Williamsburg, KY); Haley Devine (Loretto, KY); her grandchildren Mallory Thomas, Waylon Sellinger, Beth Ann Thomas, Nolan Carey, Weston Carey, and Asher Carey. Also surviving are three stepchildren and a loving stepdaughter, her mother Betty Ann Thomas (Manton), 2 brothers, Scott Thomas (Cox’s Creek), Brian Thomas, and one sister, Sharon Hill (Bardstown), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation was chosen. Through death, Lee was an organ donor and two people were given the gift of sight. Also surviving was her buddy “Leo” the Shih-Tzu. A celebration of life will be held at her sister’s house on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Robert Scott Jackson
On September 5, 2025, after a warrior’s battle with lung cancer, Robert Scott Jackson passed peacefully in his home. It’s tempting to frame his passing as a tragedy, but he didn’t see it that way. As he often reminded his family, “I’m a lucky man. I’ve gotten more in this life than I deserve.” If Scott could write this himself, he would tell you that he had the ride of a lifetime. He was born to parents Mildred and R.A. Jackson, who loved him so deeply it “was almost embarrassing.” His dad reportedly used to walk a half step behind him—that’s how proud he was. His sisters, Mary Turner, Molly Jackson, and Nancy Bryant, quickly joined the fan club (and remain dedicated members). At 21, Scott met and married the love of his life, Jane Yarrington. Their love story was both ordinary and extraordinary at the same time. They laughed hard and often. There was a time when his children worried he might lose his sharp sense of humor, since their mom gave up the laughs too easily. Alas, she never stopped. In all, they spent 52 years steadily and gently adoring each other. Scott spent the majority of his career as the executive director of a community mental health center in Cherokee County, Kansas. When he started, there were fewer than ten people on staff. His vision was to create a beautiful building that offered a full array of services. By the time he retired, that vision had been realized. One of the lowest-income counties in Kansas now has a state-of-the-art mental health center that provides a wide range of services, along with an affordable gym facility for the community. As successful as he was in his work, the role he excelled at most was fatherhood. He was supportive of his children’s meaningful pursuits, and equally enthusiastic about their nonsense. He rarely turned down an opportunity to help Kaitlin build a doomed invention or to proudly display one of Kasey’s better-than-average art pieces. He will be deeply missed, but we are grateful for the countless reminders of his love and presence that surround us every day. Kaitlin’s oldest, Remi Roll, is the spitting image of Scott. And Kasey— not to be outdone—welcomed her third child, Scottie Noll, just in time for Grandpa to hold his namesake before moving on. Scott also leaves behind three other grandchildren: Leo Noll (who never let Grandpa win a wheelchair race), Lincoln Noll (his favorite doctor to be treated by), and Acelyn Roll (who—for reasons no one knows—lovingly called him “Pecca Jack”). He is also survived by his son-in-law, Danny Noll, and daughter-in-law, Rachelle Roll. He was immensely proud of both. The depth of his relationships is evident in the outpouring of loving texts, emails, and calls he received from lifelong friends and newer friends, as well as from family in his last few months.
