Clinical background & orientation
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 18 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and couples. I began Coastal Counseling & Consulting LLC in December 2016 on a part-time basis while still working full-time. In July 2017, I began developing Coastal Counseling & Consulting LLC full-time.
Being a licensed therapist for over 18 years has given me the opportunity to work with individuals who have experienced trauma and those who struggle with the symptoms of anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. I have also worked with many folks working through the aftermath of the loss of someone or something important as well as those who are struggling with being satisfied with their lives. I have facilitated therapy sessions in community mental health clinics, non-profit clinics, and prisons.
My goal as a therapist is to assist you to address the problems and/or obstacles that are interfering with your life. I believe that everyone can learn skills to improve their satisfaction with life and lessen any mental health symptoms that may be troublesome.
Therapy is a specialized experience based on the individual and challenges being addressed. I use different techniques to help you find solutions. This can involve examining and developing enhanced problem-solving, coping strategies, and communication skills, as well as developing realistic life expectations. In addition, I am a certified Star Behavioral Health Provider with additional training to provide services for military and their families.
