PIER Recovery Community Center We are an addiction recovery community center located in the heart of Newport, Kentucky!

The PIER provides structured, small-group classes and recreational activities in an environment that encourages individual initiative and development of a social network that puts participants on a path of positive self-awareness, growth and recovery. PIER encourages participation in daily operations as well as activities. PIER classes show individuals how to respond to challenges within their lives and within themselves. These include basic life skills of how to shop for and cook a healthy, low-cost meal; or how to locate and apply for a job; how to use their inner resources for their own benefit through anger management; how to develop a WRAP® plan for personal crises. The PIER provides a place for the pursuit of a healthy, holistic life style through which the individual is able to achieve wellness within a matrix of new relationships based on self-understanding, mutual acceptance and self-esteem.

While working with the PIER over the past two years, Shawna has made big changes in her life. She has maintained long-term sobriety, reached her goals, taken on a leadership role helping women at her sober living, and brought many of them to the PIER for help.

Shawna goes above and beyond for her recovery and helps others in every way possible. She has become an advocate for herself and others. She has rebuilt relationships with her sons, become employable, and maintained a job.
Recently, Shawna was able to get her own place and move out of sober living. Shawna has come so far! We are proud of the work she has put into her recovery.

We have no doubt she will continue to grow and succeed in life if she keeps on the road she is on.
