Michelle “Lee” Thomas
Michelle “Lee” Thomas passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Kentucky, after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Lee was born on October 20, 1969. She was a loving, easygoing, and generous person. Lee was also an amazing cook. Her backyard may have been her favorite place to be as she loved nature and her privacy. Never on time for anything, but that was Lee! She loved life, privacy, and her family. Preceded in death by her father, Carl Thomas (Manton), paternal grandparents James and Annie Downs Thomas (Manton), Joseph Hugh and Lorene Greenwell Bartley (Bardstown). Survived by the love of her life; Frankie Carey (Erlanger, KY); her children Gerrit Thomas (Williamsburg, KY); Haley Devine (Loretto, KY); her grandchildren Mallory Thomas, Waylon Sellinger, Beth Ann Thomas, Nolan Carey, Weston Carey, and Asher Carey. Also surviving are three stepchildren and a loving stepdaughter, her mother Betty Ann Thomas (Manton), 2 brothers, Scott Thomas (Cox’s Creek), Brian Thomas, and one sister, Sharon Hill (Bardstown), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation was chosen. Through death, Lee was an organ donor and two people were given the gift of sight. Also surviving was her buddy “Leo” the Shih-Tzu. A celebration of life will be held at her sister’s house on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Robert Scott Jackson
On September 5, 2025, after a warrior’s battle with lung cancer, Robert Scott Jackson passed peacefully in his home. It’s tempting to frame his passing as a tragedy, but he didn’t see it that way. As he often reminded his family, “I’m a lucky man. I’ve gotten more in this life than I deserve.” If Scott could write this himself, he would tell you that he had the ride of a lifetime. He was born to parents Mildred and R.A. Jackson, who loved him so deeply it “was almost embarrassing.” His dad reportedly used to walk a half step behind him—that’s how proud he was. His sisters, Mary Turner, Molly Jackson, and Nancy Bryant, quickly joined the fan club (and remain dedicated members). At 21, Scott met and married the love of his life, Jane Yarrington. Their love story was both ordinary and extraordinary at the same time. They laughed hard and often. There was a time when his children worried he might lose his sharp sense of humor, since their mom gave up the laughs too easily. Alas, she never stopped. In all, they spent 52 years steadily and gently adoring each other. Scott spent the majority of his career as the executive director of a community mental health center in Cherokee County, Kansas. When he started, there were fewer than ten people on staff. His vision was to create a beautiful building that offered a full array of services. By the time he retired, that vision had been realized. One of the lowest-income counties in Kansas now has a state-of-the-art mental health center that provides a wide range of services, along with an affordable gym facility for the community. As successful as he was in his work, the role he excelled at most was fatherhood. He was supportive of his children’s meaningful pursuits, and equally enthusiastic about their nonsense. He rarely turned down an opportunity to help Kaitlin build a doomed invention or to proudly display one of Kasey’s better-than-average art pieces. He will be deeply missed, but we are grateful for the countless reminders of his love and presence that surround us every day. Kaitlin’s oldest, Remi Roll, is the spitting image of Scott. And Kasey— not to be outdone—welcomed her third child, Scottie Noll, just in time for Grandpa to hold his namesake before moving on. Scott also leaves behind three other grandchildren: Leo Noll (who never let Grandpa win a wheelchair race), Lincoln Noll (his favorite doctor to be treated by), and Acelyn Roll (who—for reasons no one knows—lovingly called him “Pecca Jack”). He is also survived by his son-in-law, Danny Noll, and daughter-in-law, Rachelle Roll. He was immensely proud of both. The depth of his relationships is evident in the outpouring of loving texts, emails, and calls he received from lifelong friends and newer friends, as well as from family in his last few months. There’s no “right” way to say goodbye to a man like Scott. But we’re going to try our best. Scott’s After Party will be held on October 11 at 6pm at 2201 Edenderry Drive, Crescent Springs, Ky. In honor of […]

Joseph A. Oldendick
Joe was born in Bellevue, Kentucky to second generation German Americans, Joseph and Teresa Oldendick. It’s conjectured that Joe arrived with a love of engines and pursued the maintenance of these engines throughout his life whether they powered craft on land, air or water. He tuned in this love with hand-built boats and a 1960 Corvette that his future wife of 62 years, Dolores Fay, told friends was the less iconic Corvair. They were married in 1963 and swapped the Corvette out for a VW Bug. In high school, the cross-country coach noticed Joe running with his accordion to his lessons across the river to Cincinnati and back. He redirected Joe a.k.a. “The Flash” to use that energy to become a beloved track and cross-country star, even winning when he took 2 wrong turns in the 1954 Cross Country Championship. Joe joined the Navy in 1955 and was part of the Heavy Attack Squadron Five. He was a hydraulic mechanic on aircraft carriers servicing fighter jets and twin-engine prop planes. When he was discharged in 1961, he went home but found out his family had moved to Cincinnati and forgotten to tell him. He went on to work at Standard Publishing as a lithographer for over 40 years. Joe’s superpower was his ability to be in the present. He never felt he lacked anything. Whether he was boating, fishing, bowling or golfing, he was all in. He was quick with his love for people, and he showed it with his huge smile and his direct gaze that let people know he was meeting you with an open heart. (This got him out of a lot of speeding tickets.) Joseph is survived by his wife, Dolores, his daughter, Jo Ann Berger (Michael), and son, Matthew (Julie), his brothers, Thomas (Donna), David (Cathy) and his sister, Linda Lyons (Jim). He is the loving grandfather to Ava and Maxine Berger, and Lula, Pippie, Sadie and Wolfgang Oldendick. Mass will be held at St. James of White Oak on September 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus, 3144 Blue Rock Road, Cincinnati, OH 45239. Joe was a Bellevue Hall of Fame cross country runner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made via Venmo to the Joe Oldendick Scholarship Fund. A scholarship will be given to a Bellevue High School Cross Country team member attending college or trade school. venmo.com/u/JoeOldendickScholarshipFund (last four digits-1823.)
