Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital is an accredited, 25-bed, critical access hospital located in Newport, Oregon. Medical services include emergency, primary and specialty care serving the Depoe Bay, Newport, Toledo, Waldport and Yachats communities and coastal visitors. The new state-of-the-art replacement hospital was completed in 2019. The hospital is one of Samaritan Health Services' five non-profit hospitals with the mission of building healthier communities together.

Samaritan will remain locally governed while gaining new resources to expand access, modernize facilities and strengthen health care across our region. We’re still buzzing from the incredible Newport Oregon Pride celebration a few weekends ago! 🏳️‍🌈 Our Pride Alliance employee resource group loved sharing inclusive books and bookmarks, thanks to the generosity of Pacific Communities Health District Foundation. 📚 It was a wonderful event promoting reading and inclusivity for all ages.

👉 General Surgeon Nathaniel Uecker, MD, was nominated by a patient for his "outstanding, thorough and informative care; his real concern for the patient's general health; and his thoughtful advice and recommendations." Wow! Such impressive praise from the patient. Good work, Dr. Uecker! ❤️

👉 Plant Engineering employees Gary Brown and Jeremy Whitlow shared honors for their fine work installing many pieces of locally created artwork inside the soon-to-open Samaritan Treatment & Recovery Services facility in Newport. Not only did they have the tools and patience for the job, they did it with a smile. Good going, guys! ❤️

❤️A Newport couple left behind an impactful legacy by setting up a scholarship fund through the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation. The amount awarded over the years now totals more than $99,500. That's a nice financial boost for Lincoln County nursing students! ❤️

Congrats to this year's Gribler Loving Trust Nursing Scholarship recipients: Heather, Leslie, Kailee and Darby. Three of them already work at the two Samaritan hospitals at the coast and all of them are looking forward to continuing their careers with us - as registered nurses. 😍

That's why staff representing our hospital's Trauma Injury Prevention Program were giving out well-fitted helmets at the recent National Night Out events in Depoe Bay, Newport and Toledo. 😃 By the looks of the many happy faces, the gift of safety was truly appreciated!

👉 Connie Schmidt, RN, works in Ambulatory Infusion at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. On her own, Connie purchased a beautifully decorated cake for a chemotherapy patient who was planning a simple wedding. That way, the soon-to-be married couple could have a traditional cake to celebrate. A co-worker wrote in the nomination: "I wanted Connie to know how much these acts of kindness enhance the experience of working here.” ❤️

👉 Jennifer Cook manages three Samaritan clinics in Depoe Bay, Newport and Waldport. She was recognized for her patience, knowledge, teamwork and for always putting the patient first. She is usually the one to preside over Rising Star celebrations and was truly surprised and happy to find out that she was this month's recipient. ❤️
