One by one and at various times throughout the morning, a variety of hospital employees visited the Guest Assistance Desk with a single flower stem in hand to present to volunteer Kay Simon. At the end of her shift, Kay had received 30 fresh cut flowers to represent her 30 years of volunteer service to our hospital and patients. ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒท

Lots of laughter, hugs, smiles and stories were shared, along with a tear or two, as Kay reveled in the surprise celebration that was orchestrated by Mag Leis, the Volunteer Services coordinator. โค๏ธโ˜€๏ธ By the way, good thing she didn't receive a flower for every HOUR of service, which totals 3,255!

๐ŸฉบItโ€™s National Doctorsโ€™ Day โ€“ a time to say a special thank you to physicians everywhere for the vital role they play in fostering health and healing.

โญEvery day throughout our region, physicians provide life-affirming and life-saving care. Some also help train the next generation of physicians through our Medical Education program. Others generously volunteer their time in local free clinics, on medical missions throughout the world or in other community leadership roles.

๐Ÿ—’๏ธTake a moment to share a personal note of gratitude for a doctor you appreciate. Your message will be delivered directly to them. You may also choose to honor them with a contribution to a Samaritan Foundation, which will be reinvested in local health care.

๐ŸŽ‰ Big news in Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital! Thanks to proceeds from the Pacific Communities Health District Foundationโ€™s 2025 Gala & Auction, weโ€™ve welcomed three new recumbent steppers. Gratefully, an additional anonymous donor generously funded a new elliptical machine for the department. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

The team is thrilled to replace aging equipment and expand access for patients. As Manager Ashley Nordstrom shared, โ€œThe Nu-Steps are our most popular and adaptable machines. Replacing them allows us to increase class sizes and serve more patients in our community.โ€

With thousands of patient visits each year, this upgrade will make a real impact. Even Department Secretary Marcy couldnโ€™t resist testing out the new gear! ๐Ÿ’™

The two Samaritan hospitals in Lincoln County were well represented at the annual Oregon Coast Community College Career & Technical Education Expo last week in Newport. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿฅ ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ Our staff chatted with college and high school students about the many career possibilities in health care and demonstrated some interesting medical procedures using training tools. Oh, and there was the popular photobooth, too, for the future surgeons, techs and other medical pros to show off their best smiles. ๐Ÿ˜ท ๐Ÿ˜
