ANOTHER BENEFIT OF A PILATES PRACTICE

As we mentioned before, a 50-minute beginner Pilates workout twice a week can burn off a pound a week in 10 weeks based on calories burned. BUT more important, as you increase your muscle-to-fat percentage you become a more effective fat burner---therefore you burn calories at a faster rate throughout the day, and not only when you are exercising. A 50-minute beginner Pilates workout can burn about 175 calories. You need to burn about 3,500 calories to lose one pound. So, if you take two Pilates classes a week, you can expect to burn 350 calories each week, or 3,500 in 10 weeks. That’s one pound of fat gone from your body every 10 weeks -- which is just one benefit of taking a Pilates class at Jeany Volk's Yoga and Pilates Studio. Behind Every Successful Man …

The name everyone knows about is Joseph Pilates. However, it was Joe’s wife, Clara, who was responsible for passing the Pilates method down to other teachers. Clara also established what has become a tradition in Pilates today: to adapt “the method” to meet the needs of each student. This is a tradition Jeany Volk is proud to follow.

Jeany Volk, owner and principle instructor at Volk’s Yoga and Pilates Studio, has more than 30 years’ of experience teaching exercise physiology, the science of movement, Pilates and Yoga. Jeany is dedicated to helping you become fitter, stronger, healthier and happier — all the best you can be.

Jeany’s studio has Pilates reformers, springboards, Mve platform chairs, arches, orbits, balls, Yoga mats, blankets and blocks, and lots of other pieces of equipment. It is absolutely clean, with big windows letting in the light and nourishing greenery of all sorts, with a floor that never feels cold.
