Edited to add : the heart monitor is not lost ! Maybe that was a poor choice of words . The monitor that was put on was a one and done monitor . If it comes off it can’t be reapplied . Well apparently, on our last flight while Wes was sleeping he was sweating and it came off.

We are home ! Coast to coast in 24 hours ! We had to come pick sissy up because she’s been staying with Namma and Aunt Hannah Bullins at the beach while we were in California. Wes has already lost his heart monitor…Before we even got off of our last flight . So I have requested a second one from the hospital . Now to go home and rest and enjoy my babies and just being home . ❤️💙

Guess who’s been discharged ?!
He’s coming home with a heart monitor that he’ll wear for the next 10 days and we’ll ship back to LPCH when he’s done. The good news is that they didn’t feel that the irregular heart rate was something serious enough that he needed to stay in California . The bad news is we still don’t understand what caused it in the first place . Hopefully, over the next 10 days he’ll have no more episodes. But, if he does they now know what to look for and can work with our home cardiologist to create a game plan for controlling these episodes.
We are so ready to be home ! It’s been a mentally exhausting last couple of days ! I’m so thankful for every call, text , and most importantly prayer we’ve received!❤️💙

So.. the plan was for Wes to go to step down today . His nasal cannula is just there for looks at this time , but they’re keeping it in place in the event he needs support later on . Right before transferring to step down Wes’ heart rate spiked from 132 to 190 for a brief second. We initially suspected it was a fluke, but after reading the ekg, the Doctors believe it was real and have decided to keep him in PCICU for now to be closely monitored.

Some of the reasons this could have occurred:
Low electrolytes from no food or drink over the last 24+ hours, irritation in the heart from the cath. There’s also a chance that this has been an occurrence over the last year and a half, but we haven’t caught it because it’s such a brief episode where he shows no signs or symptoms.

I’m glad it was caught, but it’s so very scary not knowing. The plan is for Wes to have another ekg and echo done in the next little bit to evaluate and make sure things look as good as they did on Thursday. Please continue to pray for Wes and that this is an easy fix . I’m hoping it’s the electrolytes, but I’m thankful we were in the right place at the right time . ❤️💙

Finally getting to see my baby! If you don’t think God won’t turn a situation around quickly!! I have whiplash from this little miracle ! Wes’ chest X-ray is clear, no bleeding coming up when he’s suctioned, and he’s expected to come off of the ventilator at 4:00 our time 7:00 your time. My God never fails ! We will still be extending our stay a bit longer just so Wes can be monitored. But I know God is in this story. ❤️💙

Please say a prayer for Wes . I just spoke with his cardiologist and as far as his repairs from his last surgery , everything looks absolutely wonderful . There is still some narrowing in the distal end of his pulmonary arteries, and carotid arteries but the doctor is not concerned as the pressure readings in his heart are normal ! That’s something we’ve never heard when it comes to Wes ! That’s our victory for today ! Unfortunately, there were some complications during the heart cath and Wes had some bleeding from his pulmonary arteries into his lungs. He will not be discharged today as planned, and will come out of treatment still on the ventilator. He will be placed in PCICU with hopes that he will be off of the ventilator tonight. Please pray for my baby! We have never ever seen him return from a heart cath on the ventilator! My nerves are shot and I am trying to hold it together, but your prayers are really needed at this time.

“I am weak, but he is strong!”💙❤️

This is a video sent to me from Wes’ connective tissue Dr. She was absolutely in awe of how much change and growth has occurred since Wes’ surgery . On the right side of the video, is the echo taken following Wes last surgery. The left side is today . It’s very clear to see how much wider those pulmonary arteries are now! God is so good! I’m so thankful that he led us here for Wes! Tomorrow is heart cath day, and although we have been through way more intense procedures, I still get nervous ! But I know who is control and I will continue to trust in God alone !❤️💙

Wes and Rex have made it back safely to LPCH! (We got Rex when we were here a year and a half ago , and Wes has clung to him since! )

After the longest day , We are up again bright and early and are at the hospital today for an EKG and Echo . We will meet with the connective tissue Doctors in Sunnyvale after this visit. Wes will be admitted for iv hydration around 2:45 today and his heart cath is tomorrow with no set time yet ! We are exhausted but glad to be here safe and sound, and back with Wes. Keep praying for good results, no delays , and that we’ll all arrive safely back in NC on Sunday as we have planned! ❤️💙

It’s been a while since we’ve updated our page ! Wes is still doing very good ! Life has been very busy lately ! Both him and his little sister like to keep us on our toes!

Please remember Wes, myself and my mother in-lawDeon Keen in prayer as we fly out tomorrow night for California . Wes will have a checkup with his connective tissue Doctor on Thursday and a heart catheterization on Friday . We were hoping to do this at Duke to avoid flying back across the country, but understand that Wes seeing the team that performed his surgery is what is best for him .

Please be in prayer for good news, great results and complete healing. Pray that the reconstruction of Wes’ pulmonary arteries, along with every other artery repaired, are working as they should.

We’re asking specifically for prayer for safe travels , great news , and my mama heart as well, as the other half of my heart (Ava) will be here at home with my family .

Thank you all ❤️💙

So thankful for the folks that think enough of us to wear red for a cause that’s near and dear to our hearts! (♥️💙) We love you all! Those pictured, and those not. You have supported us, prayed for us, and tagged along for this emotional journey for the last (almost) three years and witnessed God’s work in Wes’ life ! Although Wes is indeed healed, CHD is lifelong and we will always continue to show support for other warriors like our Wes! ❤️💙

Both kids had a great check up today ! Wes is doing great ! Dr. Robinson said looking at today’s echo, and an earlier echo from last year, it looks like a completely different heart! We are so thankful for this miracle! We do have an Angiogram coming up at Duke, but we still don’t know what the future holds as far as traveling back to California. Our Cardiologist will be in communication with the team from LPCH and we should know our plans within the next few weeks. We will go wherever God wills us, and wherever is best for Wes! Thank you so much for your prayers! I will update as soon as I know where we are heading for our post op visit ! ❤️💙

Heading back to the Cardiologist today for checkups for both kids . We’re coming up on one year post op next month; and our prayer is that everything is continuing to heal, grow and work like it should for Wes! We are also hoping that the one year post op visit can be done at Duke rather than flying back to California. But, we are trusting God’s will for all of those things. If LPCH is where we need to be, that’s where we will go !❤️💙

I always like to update before and after these visits. Because, I know that answered prayers to God, from so many, are why Wes is here today. 💙❤️

The fact that World Heart day is proceeded by sons day means you guys get another post from me ! I know, everyone already knows Wes’ story and it gets redundant hearing it. But ,what God has done in his life and in our lives is something I will never stop talking about! This journey has been hellacious! Not gonna lie. I get physically sick thinking back on these times and seeing my child in this condition. Honestly, I’ve blocked a lot of it out and am only reminded by the pictures and videos. But, I am so full of gratitude and awe of what God has done in Wes’ life. I’m so thankful for the people it has brought into our lives, the heart moms and kids we have have met or shared stories with, but most importantly the the strengthening of our relationship with God and family . Wes you amaze me daily, and I look forward to seeing how God continues to use you throughout your life! ❤️💙
