Bariatric surgery remains the most effective treatment for long-term weight loss — but new evidence shows that adding GLP-1 medications can enhance results. 💉✨A Stanford Health Care study (2019–2023) found that combining surgery with GLP-1s offers a synergistic advantage, particularly around the perioperative period. At the Center for Weight Loss at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, we integrate GLP-1 therapy as part of a personalized, multimodal approach to obesity care.

Bariatric surgery isn’t just about losing weight, it’s also about keeping you healthy. Timing matters—getting even light activity after meals offers measurable benefits.

Here’s where bariatric surgery and your lifestyle habits intersect 👇
➡️ Surgery gives you an initial metabolic reset: improved insulin sensitivity, hormonal changes, and less metabolic stress.
➡️ But to keep that momentum going, you need to stack the habits: strength training, protein intake, movement, consistent nutrition.
Think of surgery as a metabolic accelerator — your habits are the fuel that keeps the engine running.

You don’t have to change everything overnight—in fact, it’s better if you don’t.
Start with one or two small, achievable goals: an extra glass of water, a short walk after dinner, or adding protein to breakfast. These little wins build momentum.
When you try to overhaul your whole life at once, it can feel overwhelming, unsustainable, and like you’re just “white-knuckling” it. 🚫
Healthy habits should feel doable—because they’re meant to last a lifetime.
Small steps, big results. 💪
