We’ve all heard the phrase, but sometimes it takes a moment like this to truly understand it . . .

Pictured is baby Clara with her father by her side, waiting, hoping, praying for a chance to bring her home from the NICU. Just out of frame is mom, Cristiane, feeling the weight of it all: the joy of meeting her daughter, the fear of losing her, and the grief that comes with a journey that didn’t go as planned.

This NICU Awareness Month, we honor the strength of families like Clara’s—families whose journeys continue well beyond their NICU stay.

A fighter from the beginning, Clara recently celebrated her second birthday. In that time, she’s undergone four surgeries—three of them open-heart, the first at just 13 days old.

Theirs is a story that reflects the quiet but profound strength of community, and we look forward to sharing it with you soon. 💙

Keeping Pace With Multiple Miracles

This summer, we had the pleasure of hosting two incredible interns at Mothers' Milk Bank Northeast thanks to Project Onramp, a Life Science Cares program that helps talented college students gain hands-on experience in the life sciences.

Compassionate and curious, with a keen interest in public health, Mischa and Ari made a real impact on our work — reminding us why it’s so important to invest in the future, an idea that perfectly aligns with our nonprofit’s mission.

We're also proud to support families across the Northeast (including New Jersey!) who are just getting started with breastfeeding.Why? Because we know breastfeeding helps build stronger, healthier communities.

Today, New Jersey’s State Breastfeeding Coordinator, Ellen Maughan, JD, IBCLC, is sharing how the Garden State is putting this year’s theme into action: “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.”

Meet Nash Potato — also known as the world's most premature baby . . .

This little warrior defied the odds, and earlier this month, he celebrated his very first birthday.

Born 133 days early and weighing less than a grapefruit, baby Nash — lovingly nicknamed "Nash Potato" by his parents — spent 198 days in the NICU before finally heading home.

At Mothers' Milk Bank Northeast, we’re moved by stories like Nash’s because they remind us why our mission matters. We share his journey in honor of all the fragile babies fighting for a healthy start, and the incredible families and medical teams who stand beside them.
