Robert Bryson McPherson Jr., 82, was born on June 22, 1943, to the late Robert Bryson McPherson, Sr. and Zella Williams McPherson. He passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at his home. Robert retired from Southern Bell as a supervisor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Joy McPherson Barnett.
Family remaining: Wife, Janice Teague McPherson, Daughter, Laura McPherson Revis (Michael), Son, Robert Bryson McPherson III, Grandson, Patrick Bradley McPherson (Alejandra), Granddaughter, Tayler Hannah Revis, Sister, Gloria McPherson, Nieces, Denise Kindret (Warren) and Debra Carlisle and Nephew, Hal Barnett, great-nieces and great-great niece and nephew.
A service will be held at 2pm, Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Newton, NC with Father Oscar Rozo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring at 3975 Robinson Rd Newton NC 28658.

Claude Andrew Taylor, age 80, of Hickory, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Hedrick.

Claude is survived sister, Barbara Berry; niece, Connie Carroll and husband Rex; and a number of extended family and friends.

The gravestone of John Renie, a house painter who died in 1832 at the age of 33, comprises a rectangular carved 285-letter acrostic puzzle. From the larger H on the center square, the sentence "Here lies John Renie" may be read in any direction—in 46,000 different ways. It is likely that he carved it himself and it is said his intention was to confuse the Devil, ensuring his passage into Heaven.

Dr. Kant Patel, 88, was born on May 12, 1937, to the late Khanjibhai Patel and Jumnaben Patel. He passed away on September 8, 2025, at Conover Nursing. Dr. Kant Patel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and physician, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025. Born in Khadsupa, India, he pursued medicine across three continents-practicing in Germany before settling in Indiana, where he delivered over 2,000 babies and served his community with compassion and dedication. He retired in 2005, and the following year, he and Shanta moved to Conover, North Carolina. He leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Dhiru Patel; and sister, Khiki Patel.
Kant was survived his wife of 70 years, Shanta Patel; sons, Sanjay Patel (Angela), and Sam Patel (Jennifer); grandchildren, Hayden, and Anna Grace.
A Hindu service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home with Mahraj Ashoke Patel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice of Burke County; San Digeo Center for the Blind; Women's resource center of Hickory NC.

Mary Martha Dale Sigmon, 87, was born on January 21, 1938, to the late William Jenkins "Jink" Dale and Jessie Lenoir Seagle Dale. She went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loved ones on August 26, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years John Harold "Mousey" Sigmon, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by sons, Doug Sigmon and wife, Susan, Randy Sigmon and wife, Penny, Jeff Sigmon and wife, Amy; daughter, Tammy Bowman and husband Darryl; grandchildren, Sommer Madden and husband, Keith, Cory Bowman, Brandi Isenhour and husband, Tyler, Jeremy Walker and wife Ashley, Dakota Bowman and wife Mariah, Kayla Johnson and husband David, Tayler Sigmon and boyfriend Cristian Martinez; grand-dog Dixie; great-grandchildren, Taryn Isenhour, Kayden Madden, Brylon Cline, Madison Walker, Keylee Madden, Bristol Triplett, Westyn Isenhour, Raylan Walker, Adalyn Isenhour, Layni Bowman, Jackson Johnson, Finnegan Bowman, and Ellie Walker.
A visitation will be held at 1 pm on Saturday prior to the service.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Whisenant officiating.
The family has requested a private grave side service for a time to reflect and say their good byes.
