Pediatric emergencies may be infrequent, but they require specialized skills, confidence, and readiness when every second counts.
Today, we recognize the lifesaving impact EMS professionals have on children every day. EMS for Children Day, presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in partnership with the AAP, the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT), and others, highlights the importance of being prepared to care for our youngest patients.

Today, the TAKE IT DOWN Act (TIDA) goes into effect. TIDA criminalizes the publication of non-consensual intimate images and requires online platforms to take these images down within 48 hours of being notified of their existence. Here’s everything parents need to know about TIDA and non-consensual intimate images, including AI-generated deepfakes.
If your child has had non-consensual intimate images of them shared, visit takeitdown.ncmec.org for support.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled tower stools immediately and contact Cosyland Official for repair parts for the product, including protective nets, stabilizing feet, and installation instructions. The firm will mail the repair parts directly to consumers free of charge.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a recall on Cosyland Children’s Tower Stools. The recalled tower stools can collapse or tip over while in use, and a child’s torso can fit through the openings on the front and back sides, posing a risk of serious injury and death due to tip over, fall, and entrapment hazards.

The stools were sold online on Amazon.com from April 2021 through November 2025 for around $70. The recall involves stools with the models CS0003 and CS0092-4. The tower stools were sold in natural bamboo and gray, and they measure 16 inches deep by 18 inches wide and 35 inches tall.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled tower stools immediately and contact Cosyland Official for repair parts for the product, including protective nets, stabilizing feet, and installation instructions. The firm will mail the repair parts directly to consumers free of charge.

Around 44% of children and 77% of teens don’t get enough sleep for their age. Getting enough sleep helps kids and teens focus, do better in school and manage their behavior and emotions. Here’s what parents can do to support healthy sleep:
1. Create a comfortable, quiet sleep spot that’s dark, cool and screen-free.
2. Create a sleep routine and stick to it. Going to bed and waking up at the same time everyday helps regulate the body’s internal clock.
3. Avoid caffeine, spicy foods and screens for a few hours before bed.

Whenever your child has spent a part of the day outdoors, do a tick check at the end of the day. Early removal of ticks within 36 hours can prevent Lyme disease.
Other ways to prevent tick bites are:
**Cover up
When hiking in tick-infested areas, wear long clothing. Tuck the ends of pants into socks
**Tick repellent for clothing: permethrin
Permethrin-containing products (such as Duranon, Permanone Tick Spray) are very good tick repellents. Put it on clothes, especially pants, cuffs, socks and shoes. You can also put it on other outdoor items (mosquito screen, sleeping bags).
DO NOT PUT PERMETHRIN ON SKIN because it loses its ability to work once in contact with skin.
**Tick repellent for skin: DEET
DEET is a good tick repellent. It can be used on skin not covered by clothing. Use 30% DEET for children and teens. Deet is approved for use in children over 2 months of age. Note: DEET protects for 6 hours.

A new Pediatrics study finds that maternal RSV vaccination and infant immunization are safe and result in high levels of neutralizing antibodies whether they are given alone or in combination.
Both the infant immunization and maternal vaccination were thoroughly tested in separate clinical trials, and most infants only need one for protection. However, both are called for in certain high-risk situations as well as when the vaccination status of the pregnant parent is unknown or when the infant is born less than 14 days after their pregnant parent was vaccinated.
Researchers studied 181 mother-infant pairs to compare RSV protection combinations. No serious vaccine-related side effects were reported in mothers or babies.
“RSV remains a primary cause of hospitalizations and early infection may lead to a lifetime of increased morbidity from a respiratory disease,” authors of the commentary wrote. “These products represent tremendous advances in our ability to protect the most vulnerable infants.”

In most cases, viral gastrointestinal illnesses like rotavirus don't cause serious illness, but children can feel quite sick. The symptoms of a rotavirus infection begin 1 to 2 days after exposure to the virus. Healthy children have symptoms for 3 to 7 days and then recover. In severe cases, children may become dehydrated and require admission to the hospital. Prolonged or severe diarrhea, particularly when accompanied by vomiting, can lead to dehydration.
The rotavirus vaccine is an oral vaccine that helps prevent rotavirus and reduces the severity of infection. If you have any questions about the rotavirus vaccine, speak with your pediatrician. https://bit.ly/3PGCNFW
