The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is in search of the right team member(s) for the following positions:

Part-Time Office Assistant
We are looking for someone to work three weekdays each week (preferably Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 8:30-4:30 p.m. Days of week and times can possibly be flexible. This role would do a variety of activities including but not limited to: working in the office – learning and executing paperwork and phone calls to assist funeral directors; working visitations, services, luncheons, and other events within the scope of the funeral home; preparing and cleaning the funeral home when needed for upcoming services; and communicating effectively in a team environment to help the funeral home run smoothly and at the high level expected to provide outstanding service and support to our community. The right team member will be able to communicate both orally and written, take accurate and thorough messages either by phone, in person, or electronically, lift up to 30 lbs, stand and sit throughout the course of a work day, use compassion and discretion, and work in a fast-paced ever changing environment where no two days are the same.

Funeral Removal Technician
We are looking for someone to join our team as a Removal Technician. This is an on-call position working one weekend a month with the possibility of a weeknight sporadically (only if desired). The role provides support and assistance to our funeral directors in bringing deceased individuals from their place of death into the care of the Funeral Home or Medical Examiner. The right team member would be required to live within 30 minutes of the funeral home, complete a 4-hour training course and do 5 removals with a licensed funeral director before working independently. Pay includes a flat fee for the weekend plus an hourly rate for any hours worked. Required skills include excellent verbal and written communication, keen social awareness, and excellent teamwork and customer service skills. The team member must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and also be willing to complete the removal technician program in the state of Iowa. Physical requirements include being able to lift up to 150 lbs, driving, stooping, bending, walking, talking, reaching, and working in all types of weather conditions.
