🎉Meet our Resident Spotlight, Joan! 🎉
Joan is originally from Clear Lake, Iowa, where her story began—and where so many of her favorite memories were made. It was there, at the iconic Surf Ballroom, that she met the love of her life, Joe, after a night of dancing. That moment sparked a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership.
Joan spent over 20 years running a daycare, becoming one of the most beloved women in her community. She had a special way with children—and everyone knew her house was the place to be, especially on Halloween, when she gave out the best treats in town.
Family is everything to Joan. She and Joe shared a deep love for the 4th of July, hosting an annual parade party and backyard celebration that brought family and friends together year after year. They also cherished time on their pontoon boat, where countless family memories were made. For Joan, nothing compared to slow evenings on the lake, surrounded by the people she loved.
Joan’s personality is unforgettable. She is a woman of many smiles, a lover of laughter, and someone who truly embraced life. She adores the color purple, Rod Stewart, salty Mexican restaurant chips, Diet 7UP, M&Ms, and anything chocolate.
If Joan could share one piece of advice, it would be simple: peace. Peace on earth, peace with others, and peace within yourself. It’s a word she carried with her always—reflected in the many small “peace” signs tucked into every corner of her space.
And perhaps her greatest lesson of all:
Go sit at a restaurant. Order whatever you want. Stay for hours. Talk, laugh, and be with the people you love.
Because to Joan, time together is the most precious thing of all.
