It's National Prevention Week, so we want to give our small-but-mighty Prevention Team a shoutout. This team works with youth and communities to keep kids on a healthy path and away from the dangers that substance use can bring. Whether it's community organization or youth mobilization, our prevention team finds innovative ways to bring the most impact to those they are trying to reach. We are so proud of this team!

This week is National Nurses Week, so we want to shout out and give a huge thanks to our small nursing team that does such an amazing job for our staff and clients. This integral team consists of Karen Peel, Sherry Scharff (who is retiring!), Deandra Hester, Tierra Lindsey, and soon to be Jennifer Rietbrock, who is working to obtain her license.

Your work does not go unnoticed and we are so grateful for your dedication to keeping our staff and clients healthy!

Mirror Monday is back today with a special message from an adolescent client. Community and support means so much to clients, and can mean even more so to our adolescent clients. This type of relationship building with staff and other clients works wonders in creating life-long impact at a young age. Amazing to hear positive feedback about the outcomes from our adolescent program!

Wow! It's May - can you believe it?

That means time for monthly staff anniversary celebrations. We have staff celebrating their 20th, 15th, 12th, and 10th anniversaries with us this month. That's just as unbelievable! Time flies when you love the impact you make in the lives of others!

Thank you to all of our staff for your years of service to Mirror!

In honor Fentanyl Awareness Day, we are sharing about an event that Mirror helped to sponsor earlier this month.

Mirror was grateful to be a sponsor for the 3rd annual Your Community Cares event hosted by TK Fights Fentanyl/Kaylee's Dad is Mad. Our staff, alongside many others, has the opportunity to share resources to community members, helping to spread awareness, education, and resources. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of this event!

April is Second Chance Month, so we want to take a moment to recognize the importance of second chances in Mirror's work.

Whether through our growing reentry services, state-wide treatment, the ROCK Conference, youth intervention, the Reentry Reframed podcast, Work for Success, to our innovative partnerships with law enforcement and local jails, we are all about second chances for the people we serve. Everyone deserves a second chance, whether just in every day mistakes or in treatment or justice involvement. At Mirror, we make the most of those chances to cultivate hope for successful individual growth and reintegration back into community, school, and life. Mirror applauds those who make the most of their chances and are here to offer them to anyone who needs them!

Our STAND KS program was honored to have Representative Mike King in attendance at our annual STAND banquet last week to support their local prevention work. Thank you so much to Representative King and everyone who helps to make STAND a success each and every year. We love seeing these young leaders work so hard and intentionally look outside of themselves to keep their current and future peers healthy and safe in their communities. We are looking forward to more impact next year and beyond!

I attended STAND, a youth program administered by our local Mirror Inc.

One of their core beliefs: “We believe that youth are a part of the solution to youth substance use, not the issue.”

Students from Peabody, Newton, Inman, Moundridge, Burrton, Hesston, Halstead, Sedgwick and middle school chapters from Chisholm & Moundridge participated.

I believe in our youth, and also believe they are our solution as well.

Earlier this month, Mirror staff partnered with the Kansas Highway Patrol to conduct a training for the Osage County Sheriff's Department, Police Departments throughout Osage County, and first responders for Mirror's Highway to Hope program. We are so thankful to be a part of this incredible partnership to provide alternatives for people who need them! Check out their post or reach out to us for more information about Highway to Hope.
