Seeking creative minds and connections
Some of you know that we are working towards creating a residential community for Mira and other adults with disabilities. It is a major endeavor, but there is a dearth of places, caregivers, and meaningful opportunities for her and others.
Now that she is 22 and no longer in school, she is home. We have some help, and she continues with her therapies, as well as a once a week cooking class, an hour a week volunteering at a book store, and occasional activities at a nearby center. It is NOT enough.
We envision some land where we can build two or three accessible houses, a large garden, and a building to house a day program. Some of the staff who work there also live there so there is a feeling of family rather than staff who check in and check out. Residents will be actively involved in the larger community and the larger community will be involved in the program.
In order to make this dream possible, many things need to happen. We will be fundraising, of course, but we have an immediate need to build a website. We are on our way to becoming a non-profit and are working with High Spirit Community Farm in Great Barrington https://www.highspirit.org as our model and agency. We want to help other parents as they navigate this time of their lives as well.
Do any of you know someone or are you someone who would be willing to learn more about our mission and design and build a website either pro bono or for a small fee?
We will also soon be looking to raise $ to hire an executive director. Any ideas or leads?
