When you're making hard decisions for someone you love, the last thing you need is to feel like you're doing it wrong. Caring for an aging parent is complicated, emotional, and deeply personal. There is no single right answer, and families navigating this journey deserve to feel supported, not second-guessed.

That's the environment our life care managers work hard to create. As experienced social workers and nurses, they bring both clinical knowledge and genuine compassion to every family they serve. They listen without judgment, help you think through your options, and then roll up their sleeves to do the hard work with you. From coordinating care and attending appointments to navigating difficult family conversations and connecting you with trusted local resources across your area, we are here to help with every part of caring for an aging loved one.

Because real peace of mind doesn't come from advice alone. It comes from having someone expert in your corner who actually helps make things happen.

You deserve that kind of support. We're here when you're ready.

There's a photo in almost every family's collection like this one. A father, young and strong, with his little girl by his side. You can almost feel the certainty in it. The sense that he would always be there, always know what to do, always be the one to steady her when the ground felt uneven.

Time has a way of quietly rearranging those roles. The daughter who once looked up at her father now finds herself the one making calls, asking questions, showing up. Not out of obligation, but out of love. The same love that's been running between them since the beginning.

At Alder, we work with families in exactly this moment. When the dynamic has shifted and adult children are stepping up to support aging parents, the emotional weight can be enormous. Our life care managers, clinical experts with deep roots in your local community, help families navigate that weight together. We handle the logistics, the coordination, the hard conversations, so that what's left between a father and daughter can just be love.

We're proud to have been featured on Boston 25's Wellness Wednesday, where they shared the story of our clients Paula and Lars. Days before her post-stroke discharge, Paula's Managed Medicare plan failed - no primary care provider, no visiting nurses, no access to the blood thinner she needed. Lars called Alder. Our life care manager Meagan was at the hospital that day, and within hours switched Paula to Traditional Medicare, secured providers, arranged home care, and got her medication. Paula went home on time with everything in place. Supporting family members like Lars shouldn't have to navigate these crises alone. With Alder, they don't have to. We handle the overwhelming logistics so families can focus on what matters.

63 million Americans are now family caregivers: that's nearly 1 in 4 adults, up 45% since 2015. Among them, 67% struggle with work-life balance, 84% report moderate to high stress, and 27% have had to shift from full-time to part-time work.

If you're one of those 63 million, you know these numbers represent real days: the impossible choice between a work deadline and your dad's cardiology appointment. The 2am research spirals about memory care options. The family text threads that go nowhere. The realization that you've become an unpaid care coordinator navigating systems you don't understand, making decisions with consequences you can't fully grasp.

What many people don't know is that there are professionals who do this work: life care managers specialize in aging support and actually help families implement solutions. They attend appointments, coordinate care, guide housing transitions, and show up during crises. If caregiving is stretching you thin, it's worth knowing this kind of support exists.

1 in 5 adults are quietly managing something enormous: supporting aging parents while maintaining careers, raising families, and trying to hold it all together. The signs are clear:

* Snapping at loved ones, then feeling guilty
* Never feeling truly relaxed
* Getting sick more often
* Withdrawing from friends
* Feeling resentful about the constant demands

This is caregiver stress, and it's not a character flaw—it's a predictable response to an impossible situation. The solution isn't trying harder or caring less. It's getting real support.

At Alder, we become your backup system. Our life care managers who are experienced social workers and nurses take on the daily coordination so you can breathe again. Insurance calls, appointment scheduling, care coordination, resourcing—we handle it all while keeping you informed and in control.
