Another bookshelf, another proud moment. 📚

After tackling her daughter’s bookshelf, Joelle shared that her son was inspired to go through his collection as well. With his chapter book library growing quickly, it felt like the right time to take a look at what he’s been holding onto.

He thoughtfully chose a few books to pass along, making space for the new stories he’s excited to read next. His chapter book collection is expanding so much that a bigger bookshelf may be in his future soon.

Joelle and her husband certainly prefer their kids spending time with books over time on iPads or watching TV. Seeing kids take ownership of their spaces while growing their love of reading is a win all around. 📖✨

A small project with a big win. 📚

Joelle recently shared a moment from home that felt worth celebrating. Her daughter’s bookshelf had been needing a refresh for quite some time, but with busy weeks and full weekends, it kept getting pushed aside. When they finally found a slow morning with nothing planned, they decided it was the perfect chance to go through it together.

In the past, letting go of things has been tough for her daughter, who is very sentimental. But over time, Joelle has been helping her practice sorting through toys and belongings, and the progress has been incredible to watch.

As they reviewed the books, her daughter thoughtfully chose several to pass along, mentioning that she liked the idea of another child getting the chance to read them. The best part? No stress, no tears, just confident decisions and a growing sense of generosity!

Joelle was so proud of her daughter’s decision to donate some of her books. We love seeing how organizing can help kids build confidence, decision-making skills, and compassion for others. 💛

Mornings run smoother when your space works with you, not against you. ✨

The vanity is often overlooked when we think about home organization systems, yet it’s a space where most of us spend a significant chunk of our day. Between skincare, makeup, and hair, those minutes add up (and if you’re digging through a messy drawer, that’s time and energy wasted before the day even begins!)

For this setup, the goal was simple: create a place where everything needed to get ready has a clear home. By grouping daily essentials, using drawers and trays for smaller items, and keeping the surface intentionally minimal, this space now supports a calm, efficient morning routine instead of adding to the chaos.

An organized vanity isn’t just about aesthetics, it creates structure for the start of your day. When you know exactly where everything is, getting ready becomes quicker, easier, and far more enjoyable.

A small system can make a big difference in how your mornings feel.

5 Reasons We Love Using Labels in Closets

1. Everything has a clear home
Labels remove the guesswork. When bins are clearly marked, it’s obvious where accessories, seasonal items, or workout gear belong.

2. They make it easy to reset the space
Closets get used every day, so things inevitably move around. Labels make it simple to put items back in the right spot without overthinking it.

3. You can find things faster
No more digging through multiple bins. A quick glance tells you exactly where the item you’re looking for lives.

4. It helps prevent clutter from creeping back in
When a container is labeled, it naturally creates boundaries. Once a category is full, it’s a helpful signal that it might be time to edit.

5. It keeps the space feeling calm and intentional
Labels bring structure to shelves and bins so the closet continues to look tidy even as items move in and out.

Sometimes the smallest systems make the biggest difference in how a space functions every day.

✨ Yarn Storage Reset ✨

While hobbies are just a small part of what we organize, they’re often tied to the things people love most in their homes. Spaces like this yarn storage cottage deserve systems that make creating feel easy and enjoyable. 🧶✨

Before: tangled skeins, overflowing bins, and the frustration of digging to find the right yarn.

After: a simple, organized setup where everything has a place and projects are easy to start.

At Functional Fit Home Organizers, we believe the spaces that support what you love matter just as much as the everyday ones. Creating order makes it easier to spend time doing the things that bring you joy.

You know the phase: the sudden burst of motivation to organize… followed quickly by the instant regret once everything you own is suddenly spread across the room. We’ve all been there.

If your goal is to get to the refill phase where things simply go back to their designated spot and your systems actually work, give us a call 😉 No matter where you are in the decluttering process, our team creates simple, sustainable systems that make your space easier to maintain long after we leave.

Walk-in closet of our dreams 🙌✨

A space like this isn’t just about looking beautiful - it’s about creating that instant ahhh feeling when you walk in. Clean, intentional, and designed to support your daily routine instead of adding stress.

If your goal is to have spaces that feel calm, functional, and easy to maintain, we’re here for that. We help families get back to an organized sense of normal, in a way that’s approachable, judgment-free, and built around how you actually live.

Because home should feel like home. 🏡

Watching kids take ownership of their own spaces is one of our favorite things 🙌

Joelle’s son decided to tackle a giant bin of Legos completely on his own. At first, he didn’t want any help and was determined to do it his way, and she let him. Two days later, once he realized just how big the project was, he was ready to welcome a little guidance. 🧱✨

Here’s what Joelle shared with him to make the process manageable and empowering:

• Start with general categories (people, animals, wheels, etc.)

• Pull out all the big pieces first

• Save the small pieces for last

• Once containers are full, assess if you need more

• Leave the super-refined sorting for the very end

Breaking it down into phases made the project feel achievable instead of overwhelming. And the best part? He built patience, problem-solving skills, and pride in his system along the way.

Each bin is just $6 from Target, so creating a functional system doesn’t have to be a big investment, just a thoughtful one.

When kids help build the system, they’re far more likely to maintain it. 💛

Ready to create simple, sustainable systems your whole family can manage? We’d love to help.

A cabinet like this doesn’t stay organized by accident. It works because there is a system behind it.

Drinkware is grouped intentionally. Travel mugs are stored horizontally on a tiered rack so every lid is visible at a glance. No more unstacking a tower to find the right one. Everyday kids’ cups live on a lazy susan, making it easy to spin and grab what you need and just as easy to put back.

We maximized every inch of space, including the cabinet doors. Straws and cleaning brushes are contained on one side, while reusable snack lids are corralled in a mounted bin on the other. When small pieces have a defined home, they do not migrate.

Below, food storage containers are nested with lids stored separately to prevent the dreaded avalanche. Categories are clear. Zones are defined. Access is simple.

Because this is a lower cabinet, the kids can reach their own cups. That means independence for them and less running around for you.

The magic is not in having less. It is in creating a layout that works for real life and stays that way.

Socks don’t have to turn into a tangled pile at the back of the drawer. 🧦✨

Using a divided sock storage container is one of the simplest ways to keep pairs separated, visible, and together. Each compartment gives every pair a home, so there’s no digging, no mismatches, and no wasted time in the morning.

Small systems like this make a big difference in how your space functions day to day. If your drawers are overdue for a reset, this is an easy place to start.

Closet glow-up in this West Chester home ✨

We tackled a teen’s closet and their parents’ walk-in and built systems that actually make sense for how they live.

👕 Teen space: Anything that didn’t fit anymore moved straight to a younger sibling. No extra piles. No “maybe one day.”

👗 Parents’ walk-in: If it wasn’t being worn, it left. Donated or consigned. We reduced the wardrobe by 50%.

📍 The result: Clear categories, intentional zones, and pieces you can see the second you open the door.

Less stuff. Better flow. Way easier mornings.

Ready to reset your closet? Let’s get started ✨

Can anyone else relate? 😅

The decluttering high is real. So is the crash.

If you’re about to spiral mid-organizing and shove it all back in the closet, give us a call. We’ll keep the momentum going and actually get it finished.

No snack breaks required. (Okay maybe one.)
