Visiting Nurse Association of Newtown Thrift Shop The VNA Thrift Shop is open every Saturday, 9AM-12PM. 45 Main St, Newtown CT. We raise funds by running a Thrift Shop behind the Edmond Town Hall.

We are a service organization that provides funds for flu shots and other services that a Newtown resident could not afford, scholarships for graduating Newtown resident seniors who are entering the medical field, blood pressure screenings at the Newtown Senior Center, eye screenings at our local pre-schools (along with the Newtown Lions who provide the pedia-spot machine) to name a few things. We no longer have a medical Loan Closet.

About 7 years ago, the VNA donated a changing table for adults with disabilities or injuries to a local organization. The table was never installed. The VNA decided to find a place that would put it to use and one of our volunteers worked hard to find it a home. On Tues August 5, an employee from Hartford Healthcare/St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services picked up the table. They were extremely grateful to have it and it will be used by those amongst us that most need it!

On Saturday July 19, the first Hands Only CPR class sponsored by the VNA & the Newtown Ambulance Company was held. 19 people attended. We have scheduled 2 more classes, one is already full, we have a few spots left for September 13. This is a great basic , life saving class. Anyone 12 years & over is welcome. We will continue to schedule classes. Please attend one before the Holidays!!

The American Legion Post 202 Family is made up of veterans and veteran family members. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
