Visiting Nurse Association of Newtown Thrift Shop The VNA Thrift Shop is open every Saturday, 9AM-12PM. 45 Main St, Newtown CT.

Our Mission: To promote the health and well being of the Newtown, Connecticut residents. Executed by providing support to local non-profit organizations and awarding scholarships to Newtown residents in pursuit of a nursing career.

Scholarships:
* $20,000 in scholarships was awarded to graduating Newtown Seniors pursuing a career in nursing
* A $3500 scholarship was awarded to an adult returning to school to pursue a nursing career.

Eye Screenings:
In collaboration with the Lions Club of Newtown, the VNA test the eyesight of all Elementary School & Pre School children in Newtown, yearly!

CPR:
Since July, Four CPR classes were organized with the Newtown Ambulance Company. Approx. 80 Newtown residents were trained in CPR. A program that will continue in 2026.

Our Story

We are a service organization that provides funds for flu shots and other services that a Newtown resident could not afford, scholarships for graduating Newtown resident seniors who are entering the medical field, blood pressure screenings at the Newtown Senior Center, eye screenings at our local pre-schools (along with the Newtown Lions who provide the pedia-spot machine) to name a few things. We raise funds by running a Thrift Shop behind the Edmond Town Hall. We no longer have a medical Loan Closet.
