Leakage is very common, but that doesn’t mean it’s something you should live with.

Pelvic floor PT (and we aren’t talking biofeedback and kegels but rather GOOD, individualized therapy) is a crucial part of getting rid of urinary leakage.

Remember, leakage is a symptom- it’s not a diagnosis. Saying someone has urinary leakage gives us no indication of why it is there. This is where a good, through, comprehensive assessment comes in.

One of the things that makes our practice unique is that we combine orthopedic with pelvic floor PT.

The pelvic floor is deeply connected to our hips, core, shoulders and even our feet. Giving someone one exercise (i.e. kegels) does such disservice to patients. Good pelvic floor PT works on the pelvic floor AND surrounding structures.

It understands how hormones, sleep, stress, lifestyle and postures all affect your symptoms and include strategies to help improve it.

This happens all the time… a patient brings up painful in*******se with their provider, only to be blown off, told it’s normal, told to get drunk to “relax” or worse, told it must be because they don’t love their partner.

We have heard this time and time again from patients that present to our practice for painful in*******se.

Why are providers so quick to give awful, harmful advice, but aren’t quick to refer to a pelvic floor PT?!? Pain with in*******se is literally one of the top things that we help our patients overcome!

True story: a patient that had leakage 💦 with running 🏃🏻‍♀️..

They gave her kegel after kegel after kegel but never addressed her core weakness, hip weakness nor did they WATCH HER RUN!

If you want to perform better during a task, we have to see you do that task! We need to teach the whole body how to work together.. not just throw a million kegels after it!

2 years of standard pelvic PT got this patient nowhere… 2 months of our care and she is much improved and running leak free!
