Brushing with a fluoride toothpaste leaves a layer of protection that continues to protect your teeth once you’re done brushing. Rinsing with water directly after brushing can wash away that protective layer. So if you’re thirsty, make sure to have a glass of water before you brush to allow the toothpaste to do its job!

While brushing and flossing help to remove plaque — and regular hygiene visits are important, too — fluoride is a secret weapon that helps in a different way.

This mineral not only has the power to prevent tooth decay, but it can also repair your teeth when they’re in the earliest stages of tooth decay.

When was your last in-office fluoride treatment? Call (203) 403-2428 today to schedule your next hygiene visit, and be sure to ask us if a fluoride treatment would be right for you.

You’re able to remove plaque at home by brushing and flossing, but calculus (hardened plaque, sometimes called tartar) is something that can only be removed by a dental professional. It requires scaling above and below your gumline with special instruments, and you’ll leave with smoother, cleaner teeth and healthier gums.

Do you suspect you have tartar (calculus) build-up? It does happen more easily as we age. Call (203) 403-2428 to schedule a hygiene visit with us, and we’ll take care of you.
