With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, residents throughout Pickering Manor have been getting into the festive spirit. From crafts and games to delicious shamrock shakes, there have been plenty of ways to celebrate and share some laughs together.

Irish or not, our residents never miss a chance to enjoy a little fun and bring some extra cheer to the day!

🥗 Celebrating Nutrition Month at Pickering Manor 🥗

Our dining partner Cura Hospitality is celebrating Nutrition Month by bringing their BeWell Nutrition program to a different Pickering neighborhood each week. Residents, families, and employees are invited to stop by and sample delicious, nutritious bites.

From Greek yogurt parfaits and sweet potato energy bites to ham & Swiss waffle bites and refreshing fruit drinks, these wholesome snacks prove healthy choices can still be full of flavor. These items are also offered to our residents as a daily healthy snack alternative.

First stop: Rehab!

A special thank you to Sue Kinzler, our on-site Dietitian from Cura, who hosted the event and shared helpful insights on healthy eating and nutrition.

A little presidential trivia and a lot of fun! ❤️🤍💙

Recently, Judy from our Life Enrichment team led residents in a lively game of fun facts and trivia about U.S. Presidents. Activities like these spark great conversation, friendly competition, and a few laughs along the way.

And here’s a fun presidential fact — Abraham Lincoln was an accomplished wrestler, later inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame, and even held a patent for an invention designed to lift boats over shallow water!

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Tamar, recently spent time with residents sharing the tradition of hamentash—a classic pastry often enjoyed during the Purim season. Residents had fun rolling dough, adding sweet fillings, and learning about the story behind this special treat.

Motown and music brought so much joy across Pickering Manor! 🎶

Our Skilled Nursing residents enjoyed a fun Motown Move & Groove with classic hits, trivia, and even a record toss, while earlier in the week we welcomed the Memory Makers Band—generously provided by Gentiva—for a lively performance full of smiles and movement. We even captured a little selfie fun with our wonderful nursing and Life Enrichment team!
