10/20/2025
My reading this week in yoga class:
Today (Monday, 10/20) marks the beginning of Diwali, the Festival of Lights — one of the most celebrated holidays in India and around the world. It’s a time that honors the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.
Traditionally, families light small lamps to illuminate their homes — but the deeper meaning of Diwali is to light the lamp within. In Sanskrit, that inner light is called Jyoti (pronounced JOH-tee) — the eternal flame of awareness that lives in the heart.
As we practice today, let’s imagine polishing that inner light through breath, movement, and stillness — so it shines clearly even when the world outside feels dim.
Today, I invite you to set an intention to let your inner light guide your outer actions.
Happy Diwali!
