Earlier this month, Empower’s Board of Directors appointed Susan Constantino as its’ Acting Executive Director. Susan is the former CEO of CP State and brings over 4 decades of leadership experience within OPWDD certified programs.

Susan will work with the Board to undertake recruitment of its’ next Executive Director, as well as coordinate our current on-going efforts to improve Empower’s quality processes & service delivery.

Empower is so lucky to have her! Welcome to the team Sue!

Congratulations to the 2025 Dave Barry Memorial Award Winner! - Michael Marra

Every year, Empower recognizes an employee who lived out Dave Barry's mission and lifestyle by helping his local community. Dave was truly someone very special to all. Everyone who knew him, loved him so much. He did so much for others and we have been honoring him ever since his passing a few years ago. Empower truly loved Dave and he always did what he could to better the lives of the people Empower supports.

This year, It is with great pride and excitement that we announce Mike Marra as the recipient of the 2025 Dave Barry Memorial Award! Mike will be formally recognized at our Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Antonio’s.

Mike has been with Empower since 1992 and currently serves as our Job Placement Coordinator in the Job Training and Day Programs Division. Over the years, he has been a tireless advocate for the people we support and has played a key role in growing his division. Mike helped launch Empower’s Steps to Work program, partnering with over six local high schools to provide job training and internship opportunities for students preparing to enter the workforce.

In addition to his work in job training, Mike is the Chair of Empower’s Golf Committee, leading efforts all year to plan our largest fundraiser—Empower’s Annual Golf Tournament—welcoming over 100 golfers in support of our mission. He also gives back to the community by teaching individuals with disabilities how to golf at Niagara Frontier Golf Club.

Mike truly embodies the spirit of the Dave Barry Memorial Award. Like Dave, he not only strives to be his best at Empower, but also within the greater community. His dedication, leadership, and generosity have made a lasting impact.

Please join us in congratulating Mike on this well-deserved honor! We are so pleased to celebrate him this year.
