Pregnancy: Urinary Symptoms Postpartum: Growth Spurts

Pregnancy: Urinary Symptoms

One of the first hints you may get that you are pregnant is that you are going to the bathroom more frequently. Frequent trips to the bathroom are normal during pregnancy but can also be a symptom of a urinary tract infection (UTI) which if left untreated can result in a kidney infection or preterm labour.

Postpartum: Growth Spurts

Signs of a healthy, developing baby are growth spurts! These often occur around 3 and 6 weeks of life and 3, 6 and 9 months. During a growth spurt your baby may want to eat more frequently throughout the day and cluster feed more frequently in the evening.
If you are breastfeeding/chestfeeding this doesn’t mean that you are not producing enough, it simply means that your baby wants more which they will get by being on your breast/chest.

Postpartum: Postpartum Bleeding

After delivery your uterus needs to heal from where the placenta was attached for 9 months providing nutrients to your baby.

It may seem like all your baby needs is to eat, p**p and sleep but as they grow they will be awake for longer periods of time. What do you do with a newborn that seems to just look at you?!
Tummy time, reading, and talking to your baby are some activities that you can do with your baby!

Do what is going to be best for your family!
Whether that is no change, lots of small change or a couple big changes.

For some families a gradual transition over multiple nights may be the best. Slowly pushing the routine back 10-15 minutes over a few days allows for less disruption so when Daylight Savings Time does end you will be back on your normal routine.
