It’s Easter Egg Hunt Week at Halleck Creek Ranch! 🐣🐴

During lessons this week, riders will be keeping their eyes open for hidden eggs around the arena. It’s a fun way to celebrate the season while practicing horsemanship skills in the saddle.

We can’t wait to see who finds the most! 🌷🥚

Part One: RockRose Ranch is our second home which was generously donated to us in 2023. It is an extension of our mission, not a seperate space all together.

While Old Rancheria has rustic charm, RockRose Ranch offers infrastructure, gathering spaces, and a great setup for ground based programs. Take a tour of it's many wonderful features!

March is Women’s History Month, and we are celebrating the women who helped shape the field of adaptive and therapeutic riding. 🐴

Pioneers like Liz Hartel, the Danish dressage rider who won an Olympic silver medal after being partially paralyzed by polio, helped show the world what was possible when riders with disabilities had access to horses. Leaders like Nola O. Barnett, founder of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (now PATH Intl.), helped bring adaptive riding programs to communities across the United States.

Their vision helped build a movement that now serves thousands of riders every year through equine-assisted programs.

At Halleck Creek Ranch, we see the impact of that legacy every day. Women continue to lead as instructors, volunteers, therapists, advocates, and caregivers who make these life-changing experiences possible for our riders and horses.

This month we celebrate the women who helped build the foundation of adaptive riding and those who continue to carry that work forward today. ✨

We’re thrilled to share that Buckles & Bling – Dinner & Auction, our annual fundraising event, has been named Best Fundraiser in West Marin by Marin Magazine!

This event is truly a community effort, from our generous sponsors and donors to our incredible volunteers and guests who show up year after year to support our riders and horses.

Thank you to everyone who helps make Buckles & Bling such a meaningful night for Halleck Creek Ranch. We couldn’t do this work without you. 🤠✨

Buckles & Bling will be back on September 18, 2026, so save the date!

March is Women’s History Month, and we are celebrating the women who have shaped disability advocacy and expanded access and opportunity for people of all abilities.

Leaders like Judy Heumann, often called the “mother of the disability rights movement,” helped lead the fight for the Americans with Disabilities Act and greater civil rights for people with disabilities. Stella Young, an Australian activist and writer, challenged the way society views disability and encouraged deeper conversations about inclusion and representation.

Their work helped pave the way for programs and communities that prioritize access, dignity, and belonging.

At Halleck Creek Ranch, we see that spirit every day in the women who lead, teach, volunteer, and advocate for our riders. Their dedication helps create a place where people of all abilities can build confidence, connection, and independence through the partnership with horses.

This month we celebrate the women who continue to move the disability rights movement forward and help create a more inclusive world for all. 🐴

Today is World Down Syndrome Day (March 21), and this year’s theme is “Together Against Loneliness.”

Everyone deserves connection, friendship, and a place where they truly belong. At Halleck Creek Ranch, we see every day how horses help create those connections, between riders, volunteers, instructors, and our incredible herd.

For many in our community, the ranch is more than a place to ride. It’s a place to build confidence, form meaningful relationships, and feel welcomed just as you are.

Today we celebrate the riders with Down syndrome who are an important part of our community and remind us that belonging and connection change lives. 🐴💙💛

Hello, Spring. We’ve been waiting for you. 🌿

The hills are green, the days are getting longer, and the ranch is coming alive again. Blankets are coming off the the horses are shedding. Spring is one of the most beautiful times of year here in West Marin, and we’re so excited to welcome the season.

Happy first day of spring from our herd to you. 🌼🐴

Today we celebrate our incredible riding instructors for National Riding Instructor Day (March 19).

Their skill, patience, and dedication help riders build confidence, develop new abilities, and experience the joy of working with horses. Every lesson reflects the care and commitment they bring to supporting riders of all backgrounds and abilities.

We are so grateful for the instructors who help make our mission possible every single day.

Interested in joining this amazing team? We’re currently hiring part-time riding instructors and would love to hear from passionate horse professionals who believe in the power of horses to change lives.

Part two: Our tour continues of Old Rancheria at Halleck Creek Ranch...

Old Rancheria is one of two sites we call home. It is our original location, tucked into the rolling hills of Nicasio Valley along Halleck Creek—our namesake.

The ranch has many special features, some familiar to adaptive riding programs and others more unique to our setting. One of the things that makes Old Rancheria so special is the access we have to miles of peaceful trails in serene natural surroundings, far removed from modern distractions.

Our ability to take riders out on these trails is something many adaptive riding programs simply can’t offer, and it makes the experience here even more meaningful.

If you haven’t visited yet, here’s a peek inside our gate. 🐴

Volunteers make our world go round.

In this case, they helped make our poles and arena obstacles good as new thanks to some hard work, paint, and camaraderie.

We’re so grateful for their help during a recent community workday. A lot of effort goes into caring for our herd across two properties, but it’s the little things, like freshly painted, professional-looking arena supplies, that help make our riders feel extra special.

The care and attention our volunteers bring truly shines through. ✨ Thank you!
