Today is National Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We believe that early detection is key.

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer. Don't put off your yearly exams. They are so important for early detection. Here are some ways to help yourself:
-Start getting a yearly mammogram at the age of 40, unless you have a family history, then start at age 30.
-Self examine your breasts on a regular basis.
-The most common symptom of breast cancer is a new lump or mass, but other
symptoms are also possible. It's important to have any breast change checked by a
health care provider.
-Remind your friends to take these steps in early detection.

Today is "World Mental Health Day!" Mental health is so important. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.

Here are some ways that you can help your mental health:

1.) Eat a healthy diet. Food affects the way you think and feel.
2.) Exercise! Exercise can help decrease depression and anxiety. It can also improve moods.
3.) Get enough sleep. Getting enough sleep improves mood, brain function, and overall health.
4.) Disconnect from electronics and social media. This can help reduce anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness, and FOMO.
5.) Spend time with loved ones. Spending time with friends and family can help one feel encouraged, supported, and validated.
6.) Seek mental health help. Seeking help is a sign of strength — not a weakness.

-It takes 62 muscles to frown, but only 26 muscles to smile!
-Smiling helps you relax and boosts your immune system.
- Smiles are the most easily recognized facial expression; they can be recognized from over 300 feet away.
