This week, our Vice President of Quality, Sharon, had the honor of spending her morning with Angela, our Advanced Clinical Pharmacist. When we say Sharon "walked in her world," we mean she truly experienced a day from Angela's perspective—shadowing her, observing her meticulous work, and gaining a deeper understanding of her vital role.

Angela’s extensive knowledge, profound compassion, and genuine care for our patients were truly humbling to witness. It became even clearer during the walk in your world experience just how privileged our patients are to have her as a part of their dedicated care team. We are truly lucky to have caregivers like Angela as part of the Twin Cities care team!

We're shining a spotlight on a familiar face who has been an integral part of the HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital family for two decades. As the Patient Access Manager, she oversees critical registration areas, including ER registration, the Women's Center, outpatient services, and the surgery department.

With 20 years of dedication to our hospital, she has a profound connection to the community and our facility, which she describes as "a big loving family." Her passion lies in helping others, whether it's putting a patient at ease during registration for a lab test or an ER visit, or helping them understand a bill months later. For her, the most rewarding part of the job is knowing that she has made a difference in someone's life at the end of each day.

Her commitment to service and her unwavering positive attitude are an inspiration to us all. Thanks for all you do, Erika!

This month our hospital was proud to be part of the 2025 Bring Hope Now Dragon Boat Race, an event that brought the community together for a great cause. Held at The Gulf Restaurant on Okaloosa Island, this was the hospital's second year participating, reinforcing its commitment to community well-being.

The atmosphere was electric as 14 teams came together, showcasing a spirit of unity and determination. The hospital's staff joined a diverse group of participants, including first responders, mental health providers, and representatives from local organizations and businesses. The hospital even enjoyed some friendly competition with its sister facility, HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital.

The true highlight of the event was the cause itself: raising funds to support the OCSD’s new peer-to-peer program, C.A.R.E. Crew, and other initiatives focused on youth mental health. Through its involvement, the hospital demonstrated its ongoing dedication to supporting crucial community health programs.

Tomorrow marks 24 years since 9/11 — a day our nation will never forget. For Dr. Stephanie Reynolds, a physician at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, the memories are deeply personal.

On that morning, she was an emergency room doctor in Queens, New York. Her husband, an NYPD officer, kissed her goodbye and said, “I don’t know if I’ll see you again,” before heading into the city as the second plane hit.

Thankfully, he made it home safely. In the days that followed, Dr. Reynolds did what she still does today — cared for patients with compassion, comforted grieving families and stood strong in the face of unimaginable loss.

This Sept. 11, Dr. Reynolds and her husband will return to New York to honor the officers in his unit who never came home.

Her story is one of courage, compassion and resilience. Watch the full feature from FOX 13 News - Tampa Bay: https://bit.ly/4mXnlAL

Patient safety remains a top priority at HCA Florida Healthcare and across HCA Healthcare’s integrated network of care. As a part of this commitment, HCA Healthcare established our own Patient Safety Organization (PSO) in 2014 to build systems, refine processes and enhance safety.

In our ongoing efforts to improve safe patient care, our PSO regularly refines processes and implements new safety measures. Our dedicated care teams work together each day to foster a safe environment for both our patients and our colleagues. Earlier this year, 49 HCA Healthcare hospitals were recognized on the 2025 Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals list for being within the top 5% of hospitals in the country for clinical excellence.

❤️ – or atrial fibrillation – is a disruption in the heart’s electrical system, leading to an irregular heartbeat. The American Heart Association estimates that over 5 million Americans are living with AFib. Symptoms vary from one person to another, and some people may not have any symptoms at all. Those with AFib have a higher risk of stroke, heart failure and other health concerns. Fortunately, there are a variety of treatment options, which can help reduce the risk.

If you’re living with AFib and you’re looking for support and resources, visit the American Heart Association’s My AFib Experience® website: short.url/aBcXyZ

In collaboration with the American Heart Association, our larger HCA Healthcare network promotes better heart health through national education efforts and community integration to teach about healthy heart activities, CPR emergency response and knowing the symptoms of heart issues.

Colleague Spotlight: Ray Sansom

This week, we’re honored to shine a spotlight on Ray Sansom from our Pastoral Care team!

Ray's journey to becoming a Board Certified Chaplain led him to volunteer with us at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital, and HCA Florida Northwest Rehabilitation Center. Our colleagues were thrilled when he officially joined our team two years ago after receiving his certification.

Fun fact: his connection to our facilities goes back decades. Ray welcomed his three daughters at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin with his wife.

Ray’s genuine care and steadfast presence make him a cornerstone for those around him. Whether he’s offering solace to a family in need, lending a supportive ear to a colleague, or actively engaging in community events, Ray truly embodies the spirit of compassion and service.

In his own words: "I’m grateful every day to journey with all the patients and families I get to spend time with as a chaplain."

Thank you, Ray, for your compassionate service to our patients, families, and community! Your kindness and sincerity inspire us all.
