The 3 "D's" of Dementia CAREGIVER HELP...

#1 D - DISTRACTION.
Get their hands BUSY! Their brains work to solve/do something and can't argue with you at the same time. PIVOT from what's going on to something like organizing poker chips, put nuts on screws, fold wash clothes, my Mom calms down while brushing her hair, you get where I'm going.

#2 D - DRUGS.
They need drugs to help stabilize their life....for safety, mental health, stable living conditions, caregivers, etc! Most important is drugs give CALMNESS and calmness increases options for THEIR Quality of Life. Things like manicures, excursions, etc, now become options!

#3 D - DISTANCE.
Everyone and I mean EVERYONE needs breaks. These have to be REGULAR like clock work or everyone suffers. At all costs, get it! Every state has programs plus if they're a vet, they'll help too. Check with their doctor and don't stop till you get DISTANCE days.
