Julie Staats, DO, Family Medicine

Julie Staats, DO, Family Medicine Julie Staats is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, who offers patient centered, evidenced based medic Welcome to Julie Staats, D.O., Family Medicine!

I would be honored to be your physician, and I’m committed to providing you with the best care that I can. My hope is that we form a partnership to keep you as healthy as possible, no matter what your current state of health. We want everyone to be involved in our health maintenance program. Everyone who joins our practice will start by having a complete history and physical exam, followed by a pr

eventive medicine evaluation with assessment of family/social history and personal risk factors. Afterwards, a plan for periodic surveillance to check for your specific higher risk medical conditions/diseases will be suggested (at least annually). Once your care is established with me, please call our office for acute illness as needed, and my team will do our best to provide same day strep, flu and urinalysis tests, as appropriate to your symptoms. Please call before you see a specialist for a problem we may be perfectly capable of handling in our office: women’s health issues, skin exams, sports physicals, joint injections, skin biopsies, small lacerations or minor injuries. In extenuating circumstances, arranging a home visit for an elder or those with acute transportation issues is not out of the question after clinic hours. I look forward to working with you as your family doctor/Medical Home. It’s my hope that we can have a relationship where the lines of communication are open, where your medical care is accessible and cost effective; where it is all about you.

For the safety of our patients and staff, our office will be CLOSED Tuesday, Jan 21, due to the incoming wintry weather.

Please stay off the roads if at all possible, the persistent bitter cold temps and precipitation can lead to icy roads.

As we continue to communicate with local and regional weather officials, we have high confidence that our area will experience winter weather impacting our roadways, making travel to and from school unsafe. Significant precipitation in the form of snow, sleet, and frozen rain is expected to begin around noon on Tuesday which could cause roads, bridges, and bypasses to freeze over. We will also experience freezing temperatures on Wednesday keeping accumulated precipitation on the ground. Therefore, school and extracurricular activities are canceled on Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday, January 22nd.

We expect school to resume on Thursday, January 23rd, but will continue to monitor weather conditions to ensure it is safe. Communication about Thursday will be provided through District callout, text message, website, and social media accounts. If you have questions about specific events, please contact your school or the point of contact for that event.

Stay warm!

District officials have been in consultation with the Okaloosa County Director of Public Safety, Patrick Maddox, as we are tracking Hurricane Helene which is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend area. The storm is expected to rapidly intensify and we have been advised that small deviations or minor changes to its path cannot be ruled out. Okaloosa County is expected to experience 2-4 inches of rainfall with sustained storm force winds at 25mph, and gusts up to 40mph are possible in areas of the county. This poses a risk for our school buses and daily operations.

Based on the information received from Director Maddox and the National Weather Service, and keeping student and employee safety as our priority, Okaloosa Schools and all school-related activities will be cancelled on Thursday, September 26.

The School District will continue to work with the county’s emergency operations center to monitor the impact of Hurricane Helene. At this time, schools and school activities are expected to resume their regular schedule on Friday, September 27. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe!
