Travis Keller was preparing to ring in the new year by playing basketball when he suffered a complete tear of his Achilles tendon. As a cyclist, hunter and generally athletic guy, it wasn't the best way to kick off his 2025.
After spending nearly a month in bed, Travis started physical therapy with a swollen leg. He was unable to walk or put weight on it, and was in a lot of pain. It wouldn't be until April that he would take his first steps without assistance. Travis would spend the next several months working with Physical Therapist Cindy Hudson.
Not only did Cindy encourage and motivate Travis in their sessions, but she also provided him with exercises to do at home to help him regain his strength. In April, Travis walked without any assistive devices and, by June, he was back cycling, riding 20 miles on his bike.
"I am much stronger today," Travis said. "Although my recovery is ongoing, I am much improved. I am excited to walk, to run, to jump, to cycle and more. After lying in bed for so long, I am excited to be able to get out of the house."
